History

The Lightning League were a group of heroes that once existed who fought for justice long ago. (Episode: Escape from the Garden of Evil)

It was recreated by Gillian following the creation of the Monster Minds with Jayce being made their leader to combat the threat of Saw Boss. (Episode: Escape from the Garden of Evil)

Lightning League continued their quest to reunite Jayce with his father Audric while facing the ever-growing threat of the Monster Minds. As they journeyed through space aboard the Pride of the Skies II, the team received intelligence that a powerful portal device—a dimensional gateway—might allow them to cross into a region of space closer to Audric’s last known location. However, the gateway was guarded and under siege by the Monster Minds, who sought to destroy or corrupt any technology that could aid the Lightning League. The team decided to intervene, launching a ground assault with their Battle Machines to secure the gateway’s location. Jayce, driving Armed Force, led the charge alongside Herc’s Drill Sergeant, Flora in Trail Blazer, and Oon wielding his enchanted lance. The battle escalated as Saw Boss deployed his most aggressive Monster Mind vehicles, including Terror Tank and Gun Grinner, which transformed and overwhelmed the battlefield with toxic vines and psychic disruption. Despite the brutal assault, Gillian used a combination of technological knowledge and mystic energy to temporarily stabilize the gateway's power source. Flora, using her psychic bond with plant life, distracted the Monster Minds long enough for the League to reconfigure the gate’s coordinates. In a narrow escape, the team activated the device and warped away—leaving the Monster Minds in disarray but suffering damage to their own systems. Though the gate didn’t take them directly to Audric, it pushed them closer to unraveling his trail through deep space. (Episode: The Gateway)

The root, which only responds to Audric or something belonging to him, reacts to the Planet Xiang, which leads Jayce and Herc there even though it is a planet controlled by Saw Boss. They discover a message from Audric but it is stolen. (Episode: The Vase of Xiang) Gillian tells the story of Valroth, a powerful weapons maker who made living armor to protect his people many years ago. But the armor became too powerful and it was all destroyed, except for the helmet. Jayce seeks the helmet and becomes invincible. (Episode: Steel Against Shadow) Jayce and Herc land the barge on a planet with incredibly huge plants. Saw Boss is sending vines to grow there and Jayce must stop them. But Jayce, Gillian and Herc are captured by warrior crusaders. Oon stumbles into the castle where they're held. (Episode: Silver Crusaders) Jayce is led to an abandoned ship by a signal from his father. Jayce finds his father has left a message for him but he needs more power from the Pride to receive the coordinates of his father's destination. A self-destruct mechanism is activated. (Episode: Ghostship)

Overview

In appearance, the Lightning League were a group that formed to combat evil in the cosmos.

From the original League, there was the ring of leadership that could only be used by those with a pure heart and had powers beyond imagining. (Episode: Escape from the Garden of Evil)

The League operated high-tech Armed Force vehicles—weaponized machines designed to withstand the transforming plant-creature war machines of Saw Boss, such as the vines and tendrils that could entangle and corrupt enemy machinery. Together, the Lightning League traveled from world to world, liberating planets, uncovering clues to Audric’s location, and battling the Monster Minds while resisting the pull of fear, manipulation, and despair—upholding their mission with unwavering resolve in a universe teetering on the brink of ecological annihilation.

They were based on a ship owned by the mercenary Herc Stormsailor with the barge being named The Pride Of The Skies II.
