History

Battling King T'Challa in Black Panther v3 #4.

The Hatut Zeraze (Dogs of War) were an organization within the nation of Wakanda that could be described as the secret police. After the death of King T'Chaka, his son T'Challa became the new king and Black Panther who formally disbanded the Hatut Zeraze though they remained operational. (Black Panther v3 #4)

During the Bilderberg Conference, King T'Chaka was seemingly assassinated with Wakandan security being present to find the person responsible for the attack. (Black Panther v4 #3)

Hunter was accompanied by his Dogs of War as he found the Black Panther habit being worn by a police officer named Kasper Cole. (Black Panther v3 #50)

Assassins from the Hatut Zeraze were dispatched seemingly under the orders of Queen Shuri and the Black Panther to kill Namor when he was in New York but were stopped by the intervention of the Superior Spider-Man. It was later discovered that these were masked automatons intended to inflame the hostilities between Atlantis and Wakanda. (Superior Spider-Man Team-Up v1 #8) Members of the Hatut Zeraze accompanied Queen Shuri as she went to the Necropolis in Wakanda to meet her brother. (New Avengers v3 #12)

The Hatut Zeraze were deployed to put down a rebellion by a number of rogue members of the Dora Milaje. (Black Panther v6 #6)

During the Cotati invasion, the White Wolf and the Hatut Zeraze fought against the alien archers in the south of Khartoum. (Empyre: Avengers v1 #2)

The Hatut Zeraze later registered into Wakanda territory by the time-displaced barbarian known as Conan. (Conan: Battle for the Serpent Crown v1 #3)

Afterwards, the Hatut Zeraze were deployed when the entire world came under attack from Knull who headed an army of Symbiotes to invade Earth. Upon engulfing the planet, the Symbiotes then began to attack all its inhabitants which included besieging the nation of Wakanda. Even their border shield provided no defence against the creatures who started to take over those that fell to them. (King in Black: Black Panther v1 #1)

Later on, the Hatut Zeraze registered an intrusion into Wakanda where alongside General Okoye they came to apprehend the invader who was the mercenary Taskmaster. He was taken into custody where he claimed that he was being targeted by an assassin and wanted asylum from Wakanda. However, he was kept detained and after some goading by him he came to fight the Hatut Zeraze after their honour was insulted by him. Despite their talent, the Dogs of War were defeated by Taskmaster who then challenged Okoye herself and managed to win. Ultimately, it was decided to surrender Taskmaster back to the U.S. government for crimes committed against them. (Taskmaster v3 #4)

Overview

Some claimed that they were murderers, torturers and assassins though the Hatut Zeraze themselves claimed to be loyal to the throne. They claimed that they only lived to serve the ruler of Wakanda. (Black Panther v3 #4)

In terms of weapons, they were known to make use of incendiary devices. They made use of some kind of stealth technology that was a combo plate of Eastern mysticism and Wakandan technology. (Black Panther v3 #4) They were known to make use of scramblers to prevent an enemy from using teleportation technology to escape a scene. (Conan: Battle for the Serpent Crown v1 #3)
