History
Zerus was a planet located within the galactic core of the Milky Way galaxy where it was situated in the Theta Quadrant. On the vibrant world, a giant spawning pool came to form where life began to form where a single essence split into many that consumed the other until only the strong remained. Thus, the Zerg species came to form but at first they were an insignificant life form until the arrival o the Xel'Naga who began genetic manipulation f the race that allowed them to survive the torrential firestorms as well as thrive. In time, the race became known as the Primal Zerg who had developed the talent to steal the essence of another and incorporate it into their own biology to make themselves stronger. During this time, a rogue Xel'Naga named Amon came to Zerus where he desired the ability of the Zerg to steal essence. However, the species was highly independent with Amon deciding to bind them in a hive mind which resulted in the creation of the Overmind. Under the Overmind, the Zerg Swarm began to develop into a powerful army on the planet Zerus. These experiments were discovered by the other Xel'Naga who went to war against their renegade kin with Amon deciding to unleash the Zerg Swarm against them. After destroying the Xel'Naga, a directive was implanted into the Overmind to seek out and assimilate the Zerg's sister species namely the Protoss in order to become perfect. Thus, the Zerg Swarm departed Zerus that was said to had been left a barren wasteland though many Primal Zerg remained behind and life began to develop on the surface once again leading to the restoration of the jungle world.
It was ultimately abandoned in favor of Char.
