Biography
Zera
As a conflict erupts in Heaven that may well be the final war between Heaven and Hell, it is revealed that God has an abandoned creation. The forces of the Forgotten gather at the gates of Paradise, and the Angels know that soon the walls will be breached. One of the ruling Seraphim sees no alternative and releases a long-forgotten warrior from imprisonment in the hope of turning the tide. A warrior of immense power, imprisoned by God himself, she was known as Zera.
Of all of God's creations, Zera is the most powerful. Her bloodlust and insanity were so great God choose to lock her up in the depths of Heaven. Zera remained in her prison for countless years never questioning God's decision or losing faith. She was finally released when the Forgotten Ones, angels banished from Heaven by God, invaded Heaven in an attempt to seize the throne. Zera charged into battle against the Forgotten Ones and slaughtered them all using her avatar, a fierce white furred beast which is a manifestation of Zera's thirst for battle and is capable of breathing white angelic fire. Zera gloats over the last remaining fallen angel who tells her that there is one more Forgotten One left. In an effort to get a name from him, Zera chokes him with such strength that she snaps his neck before he can finish saying the name.
Zera, capable of sensing God's presence leaves to search for him and bring him back to Heaven to begin the Rapture. She finds God at the home of Al Simmons' ex-wife in the form of a small boy who happens to be Wanda's son. Spawn and Zera are about to do battle when they are both stopped by a being who calls itself the Mother. She claims to be the mother of both God and Satan and was the one who removed them from their respected thrones and put them in the form of children in a effort to stop their constant fighting. God and Satan begin to remember who they are. God leaves with Zera as they prepare to start the Rapture. God summons the faithful humans on Earth to transform them into warriors for Heaven. He then releases the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse on Earth along with his warriors and angels to confront Hell's army.
Overview
Personality and attributes
In appearance, Zera manifested as an awe-inspiring, feral queen of Heaven—an imposing figure draped in ethereal white feathers with wild plumage cascading behind her like a living cloak. Her hair had been pure platinum, flowing like a halo around a face etched with rage and divine madness. Armor of glowing, filigreed light clung to her lithe frame, and every movement seemed to radiate supernatural energy. But in her avatar form—a titanic, lupine beast she could summon—she had grown to twice human size, her body wreathed in white-furred limbs, serrated claws, and burning celestial fire that blazed from nostrils and throat. This incarnation, born out of desperation and pure ferocity, cleaved through the ranks of the Forgotten Ones, crushing them beneath her demonic howls, before lunging toward the heavens herself. (Spawn v1 #154) She came to be known as the Queen of the Seraphim.
In personality, Zera had appeared as the definition of righteous fury—her devotion to Heaven absolute, yet twisted by centuries of blood-soaked loyalty and unbridled madness. She had acted as both savior and scourge, unmoved by mercy and driven by a singular purpose: to protect the throne of the Almighty at any cost. When the armies of the Forgotten Ones breached Paradise, she had sprung free from her cosmic prison with predatory exhilaration. She had mocked and slaughtered her enemies mercilessly, her laughter echoing through the celestial gates. Even when taunted by Spawn—the Hellspawn himself—her eyes had burned with feral delight at the chance to satiate her bloodlust on a worthy foe. (Spawn v1 #154)
Further facets of Zera’s persona emerged during her confrontation with Spawn. Though her loyalty to Heaven had been unwavering, it had bordered on obsession. She had confessed anger and despair in front of the boy-God known as Jacob Fitzgerald, resonating with raw grief before reclaiming purpose as a harbinger—“I am her will made spear and blood”—declaring that the apocalypse had come because Heaven demanded it. Yet beneath that righteous mask lay fragility: after being overpowered and decapitated, her immortal consciousness had refused to yield. Even as a preserved head, drifting in a jar, she had clung to vengeance—bidding for survival and seeking to possess Nyx to continue the war. Her devotion was eternal—and lethal. (Spawn v1 #169)
Because she was utterly insane and had an endless blood lust, God chose to lock her away in the depths of the Shining City.
Powers and abilities
She came to be regarded as one of the most powerful beings in all creation.
In battle, her madness manifested itself in the form of an avatar that was in the shape of a mindless raging beast of war that was the source of her power.
