Biography

Zachary Uriah Addy

During the investigation into the Gormogon's latest crimes, Zack Addy initially appeared to be assisting the Jeffersonian team as usual, even suffering severe injuries to his hands and arms after a chemical explosion occurred in the lab while he was working. However, as the evidence mounted, it was revealed that Zack had been secretly apprenticed to the Gormogon for months, having been manipulated by the killer’s twisted logic regarding the preservation of history through cannibalism. While recovering in the hospital, Zack confessed to Dr. Sweets and later to Special Agent Seeley Booth and Dr. Temperance Brennan that he was the one who had provided the master killer with sensitive information and helped facilitate the murder of a lobbyist. He admitted that he had deliberately caused the explosion in the lab as a diversion to ensure the Gormogon could escape capture and to hide his own involvement. Zack explained that he had found the Gormogon’s 'objective logic' to be irrefutable, which overrode his own moral compass and loyalty to his friends. Despite his collaboration, he eventually provided the team with the location of the Gormogon's hideout, though he remained steadfast in his belief that he had made a rational choice. Zack was then taken into custody and subsequently committed to a psychiatric facility after pleading guilty to murder to protect his master, leaving his colleagues devastated by his betrayal. (Episode: Pain in the Heart) While residing at the McKinley Psychiatric Hospital following the Gormogon investigation, Zack Addy received visits from Dr. Jack Hodgins and Dr. Lance Sweets, with Hodgins providing him with case files to keep his mind sharp. After reviewing the evidence for a victim found dismembered in a purple pool, Zack managed to escape the facility by stealing Sweets' security pass and appeared at the Jeffersonian lab to assist his former colleagues. He wore gloves to hide the extensive damage to his hands caused by the previous season's explosion and provided a vital clue that allowed the team to locate the victim's missing head and identify the killer. During his time out of the institution, he shared a dejected moment with Special Agent Booth, promising not to kill Sweets after the psychologist expressed fear of his strength. The most significant development occurred during a private session with Sweets, where Zack confessed that although he had provided the Gormogon with the location of the lobbyist, he had not actually committed the murder himself; instead, the Master's previous apprentice had killed the man before being killed by the Gormogon to make room for Zack. Despite Sweets' insistence that he should tell the team the truth to gain his freedom, Zack refused to change his story, fearing that if he were found sane and guilty as an accessory, he would be sent to a regular prison where Hodgins had previously assured him he would not survive. Zack ultimately chose to return to the psychiatric facility willingly, maintaining his secret to stay in a safer environment while continuing to view his past actions as "wrong" rather than a result of delusions. (Episode: The Perfect Pieces in the Purple Pond)
