Yukio Okumura

Yukio Okumura is a anime and manga character who features in Blue Exorcist.

Biography

Yukio Okumura (Japanese: 奥村 燐, Hepburn: Okumura Yukio) was a male Nephilim born as the son of the exorcist Yuri Egin (ユリ・エギン Yuri Egin) and the demon Satan (青焔魔サタン Satan). He was the younger fraternal twin of Rin Okumura where they were conceived during their mother's possession by Satan. The demonic power they inherited was supposed to be split evenly between the twins but Yukio's body was unable to handle it leading to the majority of it going to Rin. The children came to be adopted by Father Shiro Fujimoto (藤本獅郎 Fujimoto Shirō) who was an exorcist of the True Cross Order. In that time, the twins were raised by him where in these early years Yukio came to find himself being bullied by other kids but Rin would always step in to save him. Whilst growing up, he wanted to be a doctor and wanted to become stronger as he always thought he was weak. By this time, his adoptive father approached him over wanting to become an exorcist. When he was 7 years old, he trained to become an exorcist in secret with the intention of protecting his brother who was unaware of the hidden nature of the world.

Yukio was accepted into the True Cross Academy. He began packing his things, then when he finished he went to Fujimoto to see how he was doing. There he also saw Rin. Father Fujimoto then asked him if he could heal Rin's wounds. While he was treating Rin's wounds, he told Rin that everyone at the church was worried about him getting fired from all his jobs and getting into fights all the time. Then the next day before Yukio would leave, Father Fujimoto suggested that they will have a party to celebrate Yukio's success. When everyone sat at the table waiting for Rin, Yukio went to look for him. He found Rin on the playground. There he questioned Rin as to why he was fired from his job. They went home together. When they arrived, Yukio and Rin saw a man and his daughter speaking to Father Fujimoto. When Rin suddenly claims that it was not a human who attacked the girl but a weird creature. Yukio was surprised that Rin saw the Demons. After they all went to celebrate Yukio's farewell party. The next day Yukio went early in the morning to the True Cross Academy because his things were sent earlier. He left a note to Rin informing him of that. While Yukio was at the station, he called Fujimoto to see if everything was alright, but Fujimoto didn't answer. Yukio thought that something was suspicious and went back. When Yukio got back home, he was surprised to find the church totally destroyed and the deceased Fujimoto laying on the ground. He also noticed that Rin awakened his powers. The next day, Yukio went with Rin and Mephisto Pheles to the True Cross Academy. There Yukio gave a speech in front of everyone. He was the center of all gossip and everyone was amazed that he had the highest marks on the entrance exams.

When Rin entered his Exorcism class, he was surprised to see Yukio as his teacher. They're both brothers began to argue with Rin demanding an explanation from Yukio as to why he is involved in all this. Yukio promptly sent the class out into the corridor when Rin spilled blood on the floor, attracting Demons. Yukio then said that he could see Demons since he was born. Then Goblin Demons attacked them after the blood spilled. They both fought the Demons together. At one moment Yukio seemed like he was going to shoot Rin for killing Father, but he didn't. As Yukio pointed his gun at Rin, he told Rin to either turn himself in or just die. When a huge hobgoblin appears behind Yukio, Rin runs at it. Yukio thought Rin was going to kill him. When Rin kills the demon instead, Yukio puts his guns down. Yukio then asked Rin how their father's final moments were. Rin answered that he was very cool. The class then came back into the room shocked by the state of the room. Then, after, Yukio and Rin went to their rooms, only to Rin's surprise they were sharing one room. Yukio told Rin that he would need to keep watch over him at all times. Rin then agreed to Yukio's challenge. The next day, Yukio found Rin reading his manga. He told him that instead, he should concentrate on his studies. He told Rin that he needed to go to do a request and go shopping while he's at it. Rin then offered to go with him, telling him that it is a better way to study for him. Yukio said that he could come.

Overview

Personality and attributes

In appearance, was a young Japanese male with teal eyes and dark brown hair. His most notable trait were two moles under his left eye and another one under his mouth.

Yukio was typically a quiet and calm person though often had mood swings.

It was shown that he had a very aggressive side though he was very good at hiding it. When pushed too far, he gained a fiercely angry personality with this side being so intense that it frightened Rin when it made itself known.

He became determined to protect his father in their father's stead.

Though a twin, Yukio was the exact opposite of Rin to the point that Ryuji even found it hard to believe that the two were related. It was shown that he was quite aloof towards his brother where he found him annoying and often scolded him for not thinking things through. In fact, Yukio had secretly resented Rin not only because he was a demon and the son of Satan but also because he felt his brother was the one responsible for their adoptive father's death.

Powers and abilities

Though Yukio Okumura was a Nephilim (混血ネフィリム Nefirimu), he did not inherit the Blues Flames or other demonic abilities seen in his brother Rin. He did acquire a mashō though from his twin that allowed him to see demonic beings from a young age. In addition, he had an unnatural resistance to red, black, and blue flames to the point where he did not suffer from even the slightest of burns after he was covered by such fires.

When he was 7 years old, he underwent training to become an Exorcist (祓魔師エクソシスト Ekusoshisuto). His primary qualification was in the field and rank of Doctor (医工騎士ドクター Dokutā) where he had top-notch medical skills and abilities.

His second vocation was in the art of a Dragoon (竜騎士ドラグーン Doragūn) that made him skilled in using guns and long-range weapons.

Whilst he was not a Tamer, he was able to summon several classes of demons to serve him. Though not trained as a Tamer, he was able to summon multiple Naiads and Black dogs familiar spirits to aid him. However, stamina and experience in summoning Demons makes it difficult to maintain the summon for long periods of time. This allowed him to call forth Naiad (水精ナイアス Naiasu) summon water demons that can be used to counter fire abilities. A more advanced technique he has used was Naiads' Carousel (水霊の水牢ナイアデスカルセル Naiadesu Karuseru; literally meaning "Water Prison of Water Spirits") whereby he summoned eight Naiads that could trap a target in a sphere of water.

He came to join the True Cross Order (正十字騎士團 Seijūji Kishidan) where he became the youngest person to ever pass the Exorcist qualification exam with him attaining a Meister in the ranks of Doctor and Dragoon. This led to him serving as a teacher at the True Cross Academy (正十字学園 Sei Jūji Gakuen) that was responsible for training exorcists.
