Biography
Pre-Crisis
Vril Dox was a young male Coluan who was adopted by the Computer Tyrants of Colu and declared Brainiac's son named Brainiac 2. He escaped and led a rebellion against the Computer Tyrants which overthrew their rule. (Superman v1 #167)
Post-Crisis
Following the Crisis on Infinite Earths, a new version of reality was created with a different history of events.
Vril Dox orchestrated the overthrow of the Computer Tyrants of Colu. He manipulated a situation in which the Tyrants’ control was weakened, leveraging both his intelligence and calculated ruthlessness. After freeing himself from their authority, he sought out various individuals to form a new interplanetary peacekeeping and law enforcement organization under his leadership. Dox recruited individuals such as Strata, Garryn Bek, and Lyrissa Mallor, often using persuasion backed by his own strategic advantages. During these activities, Dox demonstrated a clear, methodical plan: to replace tyrannical rule with his own brand of order, one based not on compassion but on efficiency and control. His actions in this issue were calculated to establish his authority and lay the foundation for the organization that would bear his name. (L.E.G.I.O.N. '89 v1 #1) Dox set the newly-formed team into motion, assigning roles and initiating operations to consolidate their influence. He directed the group in establishing a base of operations and quickly imposed his leadership style—blunt, pragmatic, and unwilling to entertain dissent. He manipulated allies and adversaries alike to secure resources and ensure the L.E.G.I.O.N. could act as a functioning force for galactic law enforcement, though on his terms. His decisions often placed his operatives in dangerous situations, but always with a clear strategic objective in mind. Post-Flashpoint
With the destruction of Colu, Dox came to blame the Justice League and mankind for their role in the disaster. Thus, he vowed to make them pay and travelled separately to Earth where he sped up the cosmic seeds growth on the planet in order to entice the Omega Titans to destroy the world. However, he was thwarted by the returned Justice League though Vril decided to continue his vendetta against the Earth heroes even after the Omega Titans were defeated. Personality and attributes
In appearance, Vril Dox II was a male Coluan where he was a short, slender bipedal humanoid alien child with smooth, vibrant green skin. At one point, he was completely hairless, bald head structure that entirely lacked the distinct cybernetic diodes or electric terminals displayed by his android counterpart, Brainiac. (Superman v1 #167) Dox was later shown to possess yellow hair, and strikingly sharp facial features. (L.E.G.I.O.N. '89 v1 #1) His face featured wide-set, expressive dark eyes with thin, subtle brow lines, a small, narrow nose bridge, and a wide mouth that typically conveyed a solemn or deeply anxious expression. His physical build was compact and youthfully proportioned, featuring slender upper and lower limbs that ended in standard human-like fingers and toes. He wore a simple, non-military civilian outfit consisting of a tight-fitting, long-sleeved crimson-red tunic with a simple high collar, tight dark trousers, and basic black slip-on shoes. Vril Dox was a Coluan, a species renowned for its exceptional intellect and advanced mental capacity. Coluans possessed superior memory retention and problem-solving skills, as well as slightly enhanced durability and endurance compared to humans due to their evolved biology. This naturally granted him the biological traits of an advanced alien metabolism and a hyper-evolved Twelfth-Level intellect capable of rapidly processing complex galactic data and complex logistics. Unlike his android father, he did not possess direct innate superhuman physical strength, mechanical technopathy, or organic energy manipulation capabilities in his baseline state, relying instead on his organic mental capacity and quick strategic thinking. His immense intellectual acuity provided him with the natural ability to instantly understand advanced alien technology, decipher complex synthetic programming, and formulate escape strategies under intense psychological pressure. His primary capabilities allowed him to successfully navigate hyper-advanced computer mainframes, outsmart mechanical lifeforms, and effectively coordinate with cosmic champions during high-stakes space missions. Like all members of the Brainiac family, Dox possessed a superior intellect, on the order of a 10th-level intellect due to his father/creator castrating his mental aptitude. (R.E.B.E.L.S. v2 #19)
He would steal a cortical implant from the man who was in control of the powerful creature named Tribulus. Planting it into his own skull, it allowed Vril to be able to control the entity which he used in combat situations. (R.E.B.E.L.S. v2 #2)
At one point, he was chosen by a Sinestro Corps Power Ring and inducted into their ranks as a Yellow Lantern. This allowed him to use a variety of functions on the ring which included the generation of constructs and weapon blasts. (R.E.B.E.L.S. v2 #10)
Vril Dox came to be the creator of the Licensed Extra-Governmental Interstellar Operatives Network (L.E.G.I.O.N.) that was an intergalactic organisation that offered its services to various interstellar powers. (L.E.G.I.O.N. v1 #1)
