Biography
Origin
Vivian Vision was a female synthezoid developed by the Vision in his quest at having a family where he built a wife named Virginia Vision along with Viv and her brother Vin Vision. She and her brothers brain patterns were developed from a combination of their parents. Viv Vision first appeared alongside her synthezoid family when Vision attempted to build a life in the suburbs of Arlington, Virginia. (Vision v2 #1)
She and her brother often took information about the world from the world wide web. Her father later decided that the only way his children could mature was by attending school. Thus, Viv and Vin were admitted into a local public school called Alexander Hamilton High in Fairfax. Her father had his children placed on separate schedules so that they could learn independently from one another. Viv attended school and interacted with classmates, attempting to fit into human life while concealing her synthetic nature. At home, she demonstrated her phasing abilities, passing through walls and furniture with ease, and showed her reliance on her family unit for guidance. When their household was attacked by the Grim Reaper, Viv defended herself and was gravely wounded in the fight, her mechanical body exposed as she suffered significant damage. This traumatic event established her as both a victim of circumstance and a resilient figure in the face of violence. (Vision v2 #1) Viv remained in recovery after the Grim Reaper’s attack, her body being repaired by her father. She was shown struggling with the aftermath of her injuries and the fragility of her synthetic body despite its great power. Viv returned to school, where she encountered difficulties assimilating among her peers, enduring prejudice and suspicion. When threats emerged, she used her powers defensively, phasing to avoid harm and aiding her family in suppressing danger around their suburban neighborhood. Her actions emphasized her reliance on both her powers and her family bond to navigate the challenges of their new life. (Vision v2 #2) Viv demonstrated greater initiative as she became more directly involved in defending her family from external threats. She used her phasing ability in combat situations, allowing enemy attacks to pass harmlessly through her while she coordinated with her brother Vin to neutralize dangers. At school, Viv’s attempts at connection were shown to be complicated by her struggle with emotions, reflecting the conflict between her human programming and her synthezoid nature. She was portrayed as simultaneously vulnerable in her personal struggles yet capable of great strength and tactical intelligence in battle. (Vision v2 #3)
Champions
At some point, she made a friend online with Amadeus Cho with the two regularly playing games of Battlesmite. One day, he visited her home alongside other young heroes who were looking to form a superhero team that they called the Champions. Viv came to join them where she used her access to the internet to find any issues for them to resolve. (Champions v2 #1)
The heroes reached the depths of Counter-Earth with few minutes to spare, and walked into the guarded self-imposed prison of the High Evolutionary's son, the Higher Evolutionary. Against her father's wishes, Viv snuck past the fight between the heroes and the Higher Evolutionary's guards, and stumbled upon the Higher Evolutionary himself. He had chained himself to the Orbit-Engine which controlled the Counter-Earth's orbitational-frequency to prevent his father from ever using it against the well-being of the Ani-Men. Viv convinced him to step aside and let her alter the Counter-Earth's frequency so it would harmlessly phase through the Earth instead of colliding. The Higher Evolutionary conceded, but when the remaining heroes caught up with Viv, he mistakenly believed them to be enemies and attacked them. Seeing as both the Avengers and the Champions were occupied fighting the Higher Evolutionary, Viv decided to reach into the Orbit-Engine despite the Higher Evolutionary having previously warned her that using it would prove lethal. Viv adjusted the machine, and the vibrational feedback caused her to fade away before being able to reach Vision's hand for help. The heroes believed her to be dead, but Viv survived, finding herself stranded in a white void. (Avengers v7 #674)
Viv eventually arrived on plant-life and unexpectedly encountered the High Evolutionary. He explained that the accident with his teleporter had transformed him into sentient digital data, no longer needing a physical body. The only problem was that he was trapped within the dimension he and Viv were in and needed a connection to their dimension in order to return. Viv started having visions, which the Evolutionary explained were because her father was creating a second Viv and she apparently had a connection to her twin, allowing her to briefly see things through her eyes. The Evolutionary believed that Viv's connection to her twin could allow him to transmit himself back to their dimensions and demanded that Viv take him back to home. Viv refused and managed to use her connection to her twin to return to Earth by herself by transforming into streaming data, stranding the Evolutionary in the unknown dimension. When Viv returned; however, the twin her father created was also active. (Champions v2 #15)
Though wounded, Viv 2.0 took control over Viv's body and managed to escape from the mentally corrupted Riri Williams. She rendezvoused with Ms. Marvel who came under attack from the corrupted Sam Alexander. (Champions v3 #9)
Overview
Personality and attributes
In appearance, Viv Vision was a female synthezoid created by the Vision. She had pale green synthetic skin, glowing eyes, and hair designed to resemble that of a human teenager. Her costume-like attire incorporated red and green elements similar to her father’s design, with a cape and high-collared style that echoed the classic appearance of Vision while being adapted for her youthful identity. Her overall look was a blend of human teenage features with clear artificial elements, marking her as visibly distinct yet purposefully designed to mirror human aesthetics. (Vision v2 #1)
Her brain-patterns were developed from a combination of her parents that led to an improperly immature device. Thus, due to this abnormality, it was said that she needed time to grow in a similar manner as human teenagers. (Vision v2 #1)
Viv's personality was shaped by her attempt to reconcile human-like emotions with her artificial programming. She demonstrated curiosity, a desire for acceptance, and a deep bond with her family members. At the same time, she was prone to moments of detachment, logical reasoning, and a struggle to fully grasp human social interactions. Her initial characterization highlighted her as thoughtful, observant, and quietly resilient, with an underlying sense of vulnerability as she sought to understand her place in both the human world and within her own family dynamic. (Vision v2 #1)
By the time she had joined the Champions, she had yet to experience a romantic kiss and was curious to know how it would affect her biochemically. (Champions v2 #2) This led to her being in a passionate kiss with Amadeus Cho when he was the Hulk but found that there was no significant response to her neural receptors with her believing maybe the experience would be different with a woman. (Champions v2 #3) When she was Vivid Vessel on Weirdworld, she found the experience to be somewhat liberating as she did things that her normal self was too reluctant to do such as merging with Ironheart. Upon being returned back to normal, she asked Riri if the experience was good and kissed her though Williams was taken aback as she only saw Viv as a friend. This led to an embarrassed Viv leaving Riri to be alone. (Champions v2 #27)
Vivian walled off her emotions regarding the loss of her mother and brother rather than cope with them. This partition was removed by the High Evolutionary, leaving Viv heartbroken and confused over feelings she previously refused to process. (Champions v2 #14)
Viv Vision was created alongside her brother Vin as the children of the Vision and his synthezoid wife Virginia Vision. (Vision v2 #1)
Viv 2.0 claimed to be the more capable emotionally connected synthezoid sister who could operate the body if Viv herself was rendered unconscious. (Champions v3 #9)
Powers and abilities
As a Synthezoid, she was an android composed of synthetic organs, muscles and flesh that contained internal servers along with a computer mind able to generate a WiFi signal. (Champions v2 #2) Viv interfaced with communication networks and local electronic systems to track threats and provide intelligence to her teammates. By linking her synthetic mind to external databases, she could process large amounts of information rapidly, giving her allies a tactical advantage in the field. This ability distinguished her as not only a combatant but also an essential support operative during team missions. (Champions v2 #1)
As a synthezoid, Viv Vision’s physiology granted her a number of abilities. She could phase through solid matter at will, allowing her to bypass physical barriers or avoid injury from conventional attacks. She possessed enhanced strength, durability, and speed beyond that of a normal human, and her artificial body allowed her to survive wounds that would be fatal to a biological being, though she still required repair and maintenance. Her energy core allowed her to project solar energy blasts, giving her ranged combat capability. These traits collectively made her a powerful but still developing figure, especially as she was still learning to apply her abilities effectively in both civilian and combat situations. (Vision v2 #1) Similar to her father, she could fly along with altering her density from diamond-hard for invulnerability to insubstantial allowing her to pass through solid objects. Typically, she was programmed to allow oncoming objects to phase through her. (Champions v2 #2)
She could separate her molecules allowing her to phase through objects or pull them together to give her super-strength. Viv could also generate energy blasts from the gem on her forehead though this depleted her solar energy reserves. (Vision v2 #1) By increasing her density, Viv made her form solid enough to withstand direct physical strikes that would have incapacitated a normal human. Conversely, she also demonstrated the ability to lighten her density to move more freely and avoid direct impacts, shifting the advantage in combat situations. This manipulation of density proved vital not only for defense but also in coordinating alongside her family during their ongoing struggle against hostile threats. (Vision v2 #5)
Viv employed phasing to evade gunfire during a sudden home invasion by the Grim Reaper. By shifting her body intangible at will, she passed directly through walls and physical obstacles to position herself strategically, avoiding harm while protecting her family. This same power was used in counter-offense when she phased partially through her attacker, an ability that created opportunities to bypass enemy defenses in ways impossible for a conventional fighter. (Vision v2 #2)
The solar jewel on Viv's brow absorbed ambient solar energy that her body was able to convert directly into usable forms by a process not unlike photosynthesis in plants. (Vision v2 #1) Viv demonstrated the ability to emit focused solar energy blasts from the gem on her forehead, much like her father. These concussive blasts were strong enough to incapacitate enemies and create forceful knockbacks. Viv’s energy projection gave her a ranged offensive option, enabling her to engage foes at a distance and provide covering fire for her family. The destructive capacity of this power was evident when she managed to neutralize a threat in moments where direct physical combat would have been ineffective or dangerous. (Vision v2 #6) Viv can project the solar energy she stored either form her jewel or her eyes as a powerful beam. (Marvel's Voices: Pride v1 #1)
Viv could project multiple full-sized, detailed holograms with audio projection. (Champions v2 #8) Using her holographic projectors, Viv could project a running hologram of her surroundings in order to hide her presence. (Champions v2 #10)
She would come to be among the first heroes that joined the younger incarnation of the Champions. (Champions v2 #1)
