History

The Tox Uthat was a palm-sized crystalline device known as a quantum phase inhibitor, capable of halting all nuclear fusion within a star. It was invented in the 27th century by a scientist named Kal Dano, who originally intended it to rekindle a dying sun in the Alpha Quadrant. However, its immense power—which could also be used to extinguish healthy stars—made it a target for criminals and rival powers. When two Vorgon criminals, Ajur and Boratus, attempted to steal the device, Dano fled into the past to ensure it remained out of their reach. In the 22nd century, he hid the artifact in a deep cavern on the planet Risa, where it remained for over two hundred years, eventually passing into local legend as a mythical treasure. Overview

In appearance, the Tox Uthat was a relatively small, crystalline device. It was described as a palm-sized or fist-sized object, making it compact enough to be easily concealed or held in one hand. Structurally, it resembled a geometric cube, though its surface possessed a distinct crystalline texture that reflected its advanced, 27th-century origins. Despite its modest and unassuming physical form, the artifact functioned as a powerful quantum phase inhibitor, housing technology advanced enough to manipulate the nuclear fusion of an entire star. Because it was composed of highly durable crystalline materials, it remained perfectly preserved and functional despite being buried in the damp caverns of Risa for over two centuries.
