Pre-Crisis
The Titans of Myth
In the beginning there was only Chaos and from that Chaos was Gaea, the future mother of the Titans, spawned into existence. Gaea self-produced a son known as Ouranus and took him as her mate to eventually bore the twelve offspring that would be known as the Titans. Ouranus was very proud of the Titans for their physical perfection, but Gaea had other children known as the Cyclopes, who had one eye in the center of their heads, and the many-armed Hecatoncheiroi. Ouranus hated his other children and exiled them into the other-dimensional world of Tartarus. Eventually Ouranos went mad and began to seek the destruction of his Titan offspring. Gaea greatly grieved for her past children and called upon her one of her sons to depose of Ouranus and free his siblings from the Underworld. None of her sons would raise a weapon against Ouranus except for Cronus, the eldest of the Titans, who used a sickle to castrate Ouranus and dismember his corpse. The dying Ouranus prophesied that Cronus would be overthrown by one of his own sons. Afterwards, Cronus seized Olympus to usher in a golden age and ruled over Ancient Greece, but he neglected to free the Cyclopes or the Hecatocheiroi. His wife, Rhea, was guided by Gaea to conceal the birth of her son, Zeus and whisk him away after Cronus consumed his other children. Upon adulthood, Zeus freed the Cyclopes and the Hecatocheiroi as allies to conquer Olympus in a war known as the Titanomachy ('battle of the Titans'). Zeus was supported by a few of the Titans and by his freed siblings, swallowed by Cronus in order to prevent the prophecy of Ouranus. The Titans were defeated and imprisoned in Tartarus, watched over by the god Hades, who reserved part of the underworld as a realm of the dead.
After freeing himself from his ages-old confinement in the underground realm, Hyperion appeared above Paradise Island, the home of the Amazons. There, he encountered Wonder Girl and, using some form of power, entranced her, causing her to fall in love with him. Hyperion, with Wonder Girl under his spell, then overcame resistance from Starfire and Raven and took Donna Troy back to Tartarus with him. Once in Tartarus, Hyperion and the spellbound Wonder Girl proceeded to free the rest of the imprisoned Titans of Myth, including Oceanus, Tethys, Coeus, Phoebe, Cronus, Rhea, Mnemosyne, Themis, and Crius, all of whom had been locked away in stone columns. The Titans of Myth, now all free, vanished from the underworld, having declared their intention to invade Mount Olympus to confront and defeat the Olympian gods who had defeated them millennia ago. Queen Hippolyta and the remaining female Titans were left battling the freed Titans' forces and attempting to recover Wonder Girl, who had refused their aid due to Hyperion's enchantment. (New Teen Titans v1 #11) After escaping Tartarus and invading Mount Olympus, the Titans of Myth engaged in an epic confrontation with the Olympian gods, who were joined by the remaining Teen Titans and the Amazons. The battle saw Wonder Girl, still under Hyperion's love enchantment, fight alongside the ancient Titans against her friends and the gods. Athena, the goddess of wisdom, was a key figure who helped bring the female Teen Titans and the Amazons to Olympus to fight the elder deities a second time. During the conflict, Starfire managed to free Zeus from his captivity, and Wonder Girl was eventually freed from Hyperion's spell. With the tables turned and their plans for domination thwarted, the Titans of Myth realized the error of their ways. A truce was reached, and the Titans of Myth made peace with the Olympians, resolving to return to Tartarus to forge a new, peaceful existence for themselves there, leaving Olympus to the gods. Wonder Girl returned to Paradise Island with her friends, and the entire experience of confronting her mythological namesakes eventually led to Donna Troy adopting the new heroic identity of Troia. Post-Crisis
Following the Crisis on Infinite Earths, a new version of reality was created with a different history of events. Titans
The primordial entities known as the Titans of Myth re-entered cosmic history to fundamentally reshape the reality and identity of Donna Troy following the temporal restructuring of the universe. Coeus and Phoebe appeared before the Teen Titans on the dark side of the Moon, revealing the hidden, revisionist truth behind Wonder Girl’s origins. They explained that Donna was never a simple human orphan saved by the Amazons, but was instead one of the twelve Titan Seeds with the orphaned children scattered across the universe by Rhea to preserve the heritage of their dying pantheon. The Titans of Myth brought Donna back to their current celestial stronghold of New Cronus to awaken her true cosmic awareness, completely severing her from her Earth-bound life. (ew Teen Titans v2 #50) While Donna Troy remained on New Cronus adjusting to her newly awoken divine identity, her husband Coeus and the ancient patriarch Cronus initiated a massive physical invasion of the planet Minosyss. The entities ruthlessly utilized another of Rhea's matured seeds, a hyper-aggressive warrior named Sparta, to lead their front-line vanguard against the indigenous populations. When the tactical assault unexpectedly faltered against local planetary resistance, the Titans of Myth callously abandoned Sparta to her fate despite Donna’s vocal protests, exposing the deeply detached, unyielding cruelty of the ancient deities as they sought to reconstruct their empire. (New Teen Titans v2 #51) The escalating cosmic crisis reached its boiling point as the true nature of the Titans of Myth's reality-warping conditioning drove Donna Troy to a breaking point. While the remaining Teen Titans traveled deep into space to locate their missing teammate, Donna struggled against the severe psychological brainwashing imposed by Mnemosyne and the rest of the pantheon, who demanded her total devotion to the assembly. Realizing that the ancient deities intended to completely erase her humanity to use her as a cosmic weapon, Donna utilized her newly awakened godlike power to turn directly against her mythological masters. This internal revolt, combined with the timely physical intervention of the Titans team, successfully fractured the entities' control, forcing the Titans of Myth to halt their cosmic expansion and leaving Donna to forge a completely independent heroic identity as Troia. The cosmic conflict intensified across the capital city of New Chronus as Sparta deployed her vanguard to execute the remaining elder gods. During the high-intensity siege, Sparta targeted the peaceful Titan Coeus, utilizing her siphoned divine energy arrays to physically overpower him and breach the inner sanctum. The New Titans launched a desperate counter-offensive alongside the loyal alien Seed Athyns of Karrakan. During the close-quarters skirmish, Sparta unleashed a massive psionic blast that obliterated the alien warrior Xanthi. Donna Troy re-engaged the rogue seed in an aerial duel, utilizing her enhanced strength to absorb Sparta's energy discharge, which bought the remaining elder Titans of Myth the necessary time to consolidate their ancestral domains and prepare a final tactical banishment plan. (New Teen Titans v2 #53) The Titans of Myth permanently resolved the threat to their pantheon during the final confrontation inside the central core of New Chronus. As Sparta attempted to detonate the planet's primary energetic matrix to achieve absolute godhood, Donna Troy channeled the collective memories and wills of the entire Titan Seed lineage directly into her own physical frame, undergoing a permanent evolutionary transition into the cosmic hero Troia. Re-energized by this transition, Donna bypassed Sparta's energy arrays, stripped away her siphoned divine power, and delivered a definitive strike that neutralized the rogue seed's sanity.
