Biography
Tarene
She revealed her origins and her desire to ally herself with Thor, seeing in him the example of nobility she wished to emulate. Her early actions revolved around assisting Thor in understanding her mission, standing beside him during confrontations, and presenting herself as both an ally and a pupil. She chose to take on the mantle of Thor Girl to better learn from the Thunder God and fight alongside him in his struggles. (Thor v2 #22) Tarene’s transformation into Thor Girl was completed as she assumed a mortal guise and adopted a form and power set akin to Thor himself. She actively joined Thor in battle against Gladiator, demonstrating her courage by charging into the fight despite her inexperience. She wielded strength and resilience sufficient to trade blows with cosmic-level foes, though she also showed signs of her inexperience, requiring Thor’s guidance in coordinating her attacks. Her eagerness to prove herself was evident as she fought at Thor’s side, striving to demonstrate her worth as his apprentice. (Thor v2 #23) Thor Girl further tested her powers during a climactic conflict involving Gladiator and the Shi’ar Imperial Guard. Tarene fought with determination, summoning her enhanced strength and endurance to match powerful adversaries. She remained steadfast despite being overwhelmed at times, standing back up to continue aiding Thor. Her actions emphasized her commitment to fulfilling her chosen role as Thor’s ally and student, proving she was willing to endure any hardship in battle to earn her place among Earth’s defenders. (Thor v2 #24)
After the Superhuman Registration Act was passed, Thor Girl interfered in a jewel theft undertaken by the Grey Gargoyle, a previous foe of hers, and pummeled the villain, preventing the jewel heist in the process. In return the Grey Gargoyle undertook a lawsuit with the assistance of Mallory Book at the Superhuman Law Offices of Goodman, Lieber, Kurtzberg and Holloway. Thor Girl was believed to have been among the first recruits for the Camp Hammond training facility. Other fellow trainees included Bengal, Cloud 9, Slapstick, Trauma, Armory, Rage, and Komodo when she had in fact been replaced by a Skrull duplicate. (Civil War: Battle Damage Report v1 #1)
The Initiative recruits are sent as crowd control in Manhattan with Thor Girl aiding mass evacuation when the city is attacked by the Hulk, who is seeking revenge upon the Illuminati. However, Rage breaks ranks to try to help the Avengers in battle against the Hulk and his Warbound, and Thor Girl is among the trainees who sides with Rage. Easily defeated, Thor Girl and the others are imprisoned at Manhattan Square Gardens and controlled by obedience disks. The Initiative's black ops team, including the empathic metamorph Trauma, are sent in to free Thor Girl and her compatriots, with Trauma assuming the form and powers of Thor as he battles the Warbound, leaving Thor Girl awestruck by the encounter. (Avengers: The Initiative v1 #5)
At some point, she came to be replaced by a Skrull agent and her replacement remained undiscovered until the Skrull invasion, when the Skrull Dum Dum Dugan called all the sleeper agents in the Initiative, causing Ultragirl and Thor Girl to fight each other out of fear. When the Skrull Kill Krew arrived to the scene, 3-D Man confirmed that Thor Girl was a Skrull, killing her with her own hammer with the help of Gravity. (Avengers: The Initiative v1 #18) After the invasion was over, the real Thor Girl attended a support group meeting with the others who had been replaced by Skrulls. (Avengers: The Initiative v1 #20) She attended a therapy session with Trauma, when Camp Hammond was attacked by the Thor clone, Ragnarok. The clone beat Thor Girl badly, until Gauntlet intervened. (Avengers: The Initiative v1 #21)
