Following the Crisis on Infinite Earths, a new version of reality was created with a different history of events.
The underlying material construction of the costume transitioned into an Earth-based fabric variant following a massive temporal reality reboot that completely altered the asset's structural nature. In this revised timeline, Martha Kent manufactured the uniform out of standard, highly flexible terrestrial spandex and cotton blends available to ordinary surface citizens. While investigating a buried Kryptonian archaeological cache inside a secure facility, Superman recovered a small, inactive metallic disk containing a dormant nanotechnological network. The mechanical asset dissolved into a fluid metallic mass that rushed over his body, seamlessly locking into a form-fitting blue and red protective shell with segmented plate grooves.
