Biography
Original Timeline
Kurtis Stryker was a male human who came inhabited Earthrealm.
By adulthood, he came to be the leader of the Riot Control Brigade when Outworld's portal opened over New York City. He attempted to keep order among the populace in the ensuing chaos, but soon all human souls were taken by Shao Kahn with the exception of those that belonged to the chosen warriors. Stryker did not understand why he had been spared until he received a vision from Raiden, instructing him to head west in order to meet with the other chosen warriors and learn about the importance of his survival. Although he did not wish to be one of the few souls that was spared, he entered the fray with the intention of avenging the lives of the innocent that he had vowed to serve and protect. Along with the other warriors, Stryker assisted in liberating Earthrealm from Shao Kahn's clutches.
Reboot Timeline
He was the partner of Kabal in the New York City SWAT organization. Both were chosen to be part of the nine warriors to fight Shao Kahn in the Battle for Earthrealm, though they do not even know it. During the invasion, Stryker and Kabal are spotting any problems from the Rooftop of a high building, when they suddenly spot Reptile sticking to the building's outside. They draw their weapons and fire at him, but Reptile manages to dodge them all and jumps onto the roof. While Kabal reloads his pistol, Reptile incapacitates Kabal by spitting his poisonous saliva at him, and grabs Stryker's pistol with his tongue. Stryker challenges him and manages to win, then helps the wounded Kabal. Stryker tells Kabal that they are going street level because they've been compromised. Kabal tries to tell him that it's not safe, in which Stryker tells him, "Better there than here". Kabal then unwillingly followed Stryker to the Street, where they look behind a window and saw more Outworld monsters. As they walk away, Kabal notices Mileena and asks Stryker if she is friend or foe. Stryker told Kabal that she is foe, and he confronts Mileena who opens a battle with him. He defeats her, but she recovers and prepares to attack Stryker again, while a dragon flies very near Stryker's head. Mileena runs towards Stryker, but halfway, Raiden intervenes and shocks her unconscious with his Lightning Bolt. Stryker wonders how he can fly and shoot lightning out of his arms, but they see Johnny Cage fighting Motaro on a bridge just down the river. Raiden comes to the aid of Cage and attacks Motaro with a lightning bolt, and kills him with the Electric Fly Attack, sending Motaro through the bridge into the water below. The two riot cops subsequently encounter Kintaro, and Stryker orders Kabal to spread out, in an attempt to create multiple targets. While he reloads his pistol, Kintaro blows his fire breath at Kabal, burning him alive. Stryker faces Kintaro in battle and defeats him.

Personality and attributes
IN appearance, Stryker was a stout-looking Caucasian man sporting a very urban design with a white-blue shirt, combat boots, gunbelt, black police pants, and a cap worn backwards. He was outfitted not in traditional martial arts garb but in the practical uniform of a riot control officer. He wore a blue cap, a short-sleeved police shirt, black tactical pants, and fingerless gloves, with his equipment belt holding grenades, a baton, and a holstered pistol.
In personality, Stryker was portrayed as disciplined, straightforward, and pragmatic. He was not motivated by destiny or philosophy but by duty to protect lives and uphold order. This gave him a more grounded perspective compared to his allies, often voicing skepticism or disbelief before committing fully to the cause. Despite this pragmatism, he demonstrated courage and adaptability, never retreating from his responsibilities even when faced with the supernatural forces of Outworld.
Powers and abilities
What Stryker was, was an ordinary human with no supernatural abilities or mystical lineage. Unlike many of his allies, he relied entirely on physical conditioning, combat training, and his riot control arsenal. His abilities emphasized peak-human feats: he wielded grenades for explosive area denial, fired his sidearm with tactical precision, and used his baton for close-quarters combat. His endurance allowed him to contend with superhuman adversaries, while his resourcefulness let him adapt conventional law enforcement tools into weapons capable of harming even Outworld warriors.
Special Riot Control division in the New York City Police Department, he employs modern weaponry such as explosives, firearms, tasers, and nightsticks in battle. Despite being an otherwise ordinary police officer, Stryker is incredibly resilient and adept at hand-to-hand combat. Stryker relies mostly on police weaponry such as grenades, a taser and handheld firearms in kombat. This gives him an advantage over other fighters in terms of range, in that he can deal a tremendous amount of damage from a distance. Using his baton, he can propel himself forward with incredible speed towards the opponent and either trip them or fling them far behind him.
