The Spade Kingdom (Japanese: スペード王国, Hepburn: Supēdo Ōkoku) was founded in the frigid northern reaches of the continent, bordered by the Clover, Heart, and Diamond Kingdoms. Its early formation was marked by a tribal consolidation of mana-wielding clans and warrior families who sought survival in the harsh, unforgiving climate. The land, largely encased in snow and ice, shaped the people into resilient and battle-hardened citizens. Over generations, one noble lineage rose to prominence which was the House Grinberryall whose powerful magic and royal bloodline became synonymous with the Kingdom's growth. Under their rule, the kingdom developed a feudal-militaristic society centered around strength and loyalty to the monarchy. The capital city, built atop mana-rich ley lines, became the hub of magical education and deployment, and the royal family's influence extended through regional governors and noble houses. For centuries, the Spade Kingdom remained relatively isolated, turning inward to focus on the cultivation of magical might and surviving the brutal winters that defined their geography.
A notable change occurred when the royal family was overthrown in a violent revolution orchestrated by the Dark Triad that consisted of three military mage siblings named Zenon Zogratis, Vanica Zogratis, and Dante Zogratis. They had once served under the Spade Kingdom’s military structure, they launched a surprise coup d’état that resulted in the slaughter of nearly all members of the Grinberryall family. The surviving royal heir, Prince Yuno, was secretly spirited away by loyalists and eventually sent to the Clover Kingdom, where he grew up unaware of his lineage. With the monarchs dead or exiled, the Dark Triad established full control over the kingdom, positioning themselves as both military rulers and magical tyrants. Their rise was facilitated by their contracts with high-ranking devils from the underworld namely Beelzebub, Megicula, and Lucifero which granted them immense magical power that easily overwhelmed traditional resistance. The coup marked the end of the old noble-led monarchy and the beginning of an era driven by occult influence and dark sorcery.
