Biography

Original Timeline

Sophitia Alexandra (Japanese: ソフィーティア・アレクサンドル, Hepburn: Sofītia Arekusandoru, Greek: Σοφιτία Αλεξάνδρα) was a female human born to a Greek baker in Athens during the time when the land was part of the Ottoman Empire. She came to work at her family's bakery where she always treasured her country's culture and often prayed to the city guardian deity Athena. One day, she was bathing at a forest spring when a bright light appeared and took the form of a man that was the Olympian god of fire and forge Hephaestus. He came to tell her about an evil sword known as the Soul Edge that put him to shame as he could never create such a powerful weapon. Hephaestus also revealed that the blade was posed to be a grave threat in the world that would cause great suffering. The god then ordered her to go to the Eurydice Shrine and wield the holy Omega Sword so that she could destroy Soul Edge. At first, Sophitia was reluctant to take the holy mission; as she told Hephaestus, she was but a baker's daughter. However, Hephaestus insisted she could achieve the goal, and Sophitia relented. Upon gaining her equipment, she ventured forward. Sophitia did eventually track down Soul Edge in a port in Valencia, Spain, and she fought its wielder, the dread pirate Cervantes de Leon, destroying one of the twin blades. However, shards of the evil sword flew with great force from her powerful blow, wounding her too greatly to finish the fight. Just as Cervantes was about to deliver a finishing blow to the wounded Sophitia, a mysterious female ninja, Taki, saved her and proceeded to kill the evil pirate. After the battle had finished, Taki carried Sophitia on her back to her home in Athens, where Sophitia's sister, Cassandra, had been waiting for her. Cassandra was the only person to believe her story at the time.

Overview

Personality and attributes

In appearance, Sophitia was a beautiful young girl with pale skin, green eyes, and long, braided blonde hair. Her signature attire consisted of a short white tunic reminiscent of Greek classical garb, adorned with golden accents, sandals, and a divine shield and gladius.

Sophitia’s personality was defined by compassion, faith, and unwavering devotion to both her family and her divine mission. She embodied moral purity without naivety—an individual who questioned her path even as she walked it. Her loyalty to Hephaestus and her love for her family often came into conflict, creating a recurring emotional struggle throughout her story. Though she fought for righteousness, she constantly feared the cost her duty would exact upon her loved ones. This inner turmoil gave her narrative depth, distinguishing her from many of her contemporaries as a heroine torn between heavenly command and human emotion.

Sophitia was a benevolent, faithful, valiant, selfless, and strong-willed woman who is devoted to her family and will do anything to protect them by all means, even if it means sacrificing her own life. She is especially fond of her children, and willingly decided to join the forces that serve Soul Edge to protect her daughter Pyrrha, whose life lies in the hands of Soul Edge. She may also be considered as tough as her younger sister Cassandra, because she has taken on a very tough decision that few could bear.

Though deeply devout, she was not fighter. Indeed, she was but a mere baker's daughter, but under the protection of the goddess Athena and the divinity within her, she was able to fulfill her mission. Raised in a family of bakers, Sophitia lived a peaceful life until the Olympian god Hephaestus appeared to her in a vision, commanding her to destroy the evil weapon that threatened humanity. Entrusted with a divine mission, she accepted her fate with humility and courage, taking up a sacred short sword and shield forged by Hephaestus himself. This moment marked her transformation from an ordinary mortal into a warrior of divine purpose

During her confrontation with Cervantes de León, the pirate who had become the sword’s host, she succeeded in shattering one of the cursed blades but suffered severe injuries from the explosion that followed. She was rescued by Taki, the demon-hunting kunoichi, and brought home to recover. This near-fatal encounter left Sophitia both spiritually and physically scarred, but her faith remained unbroken, strengthening her resolve to continue her sacred duty.

Her attempts to shield her family from the cycle of destruction placed her at odds with other warriors, including her own sister, Cassandra, who believed Sophitia’s obedience to the gods blinded her to the truth. These conflicts deepened her character, revealing a woman caught between faith and doubt, divine duty and maternal instinct.

She married Rothion, a craftsman from her homeland who had long loved her, and together they started a family. However, her tranquility was short-lived. The resurgence of Soul Edge and the chaos it unleashed reignited her divine calling. Though she wished to remain by her husband and children, Sophitia could not ignore the divine mandate placed upon her. Torn between her love for her family and her duty to protect the world, she once again took up her sword and shield, embodying both the compassion of a mother and the courage of a warrior chosen by the gods.

She fought desperately to protect her children—especially her daughter Pyrrha, who was later drawn into the cursed sword’s influence.

Powers and abilities

Though untrained in warfare, Sophitia’s faith and divine protection guided her in battle, allowing her to stand against formidable enemies far beyond human capability. Sophitia’s fighting style was a balanced form of sword-and-shield combat rooted in classical Greek martial traditions and blessed by divine power. Her techniques emphasized precision, defense, and swift counterattacks rather than brute force. Her style was characterized by graceful yet deadly efficiency, mirroring her calm and devout nature. Divine light often accompanied her strikes, symbolizing her role as a holy warrior guided by Hephaestus. While her fighting prowess was grounded in human discipline, her divine blessings granted her strength and resilience beyond mortal limits.

She was armed with the Ω Sword that was given to her by Hephaestus and also had the Owl Shield. A holy weapon given to Sophitia by Hephaestus, the Greek god of forge. This implement of battle was made by Hephaestus himself using a sacred ore, and had divine properties. It suffered heavy damage during the battle with Cervantes, and after his defeat it was retrieved by Hephaestus. The sword Sophitia used during her second quest was a replica of the original, along with a new shield, both weapons made by Rothion, Sophitia's beloved soon-to-be husband. Hephaestus gave Rothion holy ore which he would work to make both weapons. After Sophitia returned from her second quest, the weapons were put on an altar. And four years later Cassandra stole the Omega Sword for use in her journeys, but the weapon was cracked during that adventure. When Sophitia decided to start her third journey, Rothion repaired the sword for her.
