Biography
Origin
Kiran Singh was the daughter of Vijay Singh and Rani Singh who came to be archaeologists with them conducting work on ruins in India. She was with her parents in a dig at the Indus Valley where they were joined by Helena Sandsmark. (Teen Titans v3 #89) Kiran accompanied her parents they continued their work that went into Pakistan when they disappeared in the night. (Teen Titans v3 #90)
Kiran Singh emerged unexpectedly amid the Teen Titans during a rescue mission, intervening when Wonder Girl was attacked by the elemental villainess Lady Zand inside a museum exhibit. Without prior training or a known costume, Kiran instinctively generated a glowing gold outfit of solid light and joined the battle—helping Wonder Girl fend off Zand’s animated rock creations. Though the exhibit was in ruins by the end, Kiran’s powers and heroic impulse earned her an invitation to join the team. She later participated in early Teen Titans operations, using her light-based abilities to aid in locating missing loved ones and combating threats that blended the mystical with the scientific. (Teen Titans v3 #89)
Post-Flashpoint
Following the Flashpoint, a new version of reality was created with a different history of events.
Overview
Personality and attributes
In appearance, Solstice was a female human metahuman whose body radiated a shimmering aura of vibrant golden light that formed a cohesive costume of pure photonic energy. Her silhouette remained distinctly human—medium height, slender—but the costume, while appearing seamless and armor-like, was actually living light, capable of shifting in brightness and intensity. Beneath the glow, her dark hair framed youthful features, and when she moved, the light trailed fluidly behind her limbs and fingers. She carried no visible equipment or traditional attire; instead, her entire form was defined by this luminous exterior, which extended to simple boots and the outline of a dress-like tunic, all crafted from her own energy. (Teen Titans v3 #89)
She claimed that she was never scared of the dark. (Teen Titans v3 #89)
Powers and abilities
Kiran was not born with her light powers; they manifested spontaneously, identifying her as a metahuman. Her biology allowed her to generate, shape, and maintain solid light constructs—most notably her energy costume. That same energy granted her basic abilities: flight, limited insulation from harm, and glowing visibility. Her cognitive capacities, agility, and emotional sensibility were human, but her photokinetic manifestation added a formidable layer of potential that set her apart. (Teen Titans v3 #89)
