Biography
Sleepwalker
In the Mindscape, a world where strange creatures live that borders on the minds of all intelligent life, there is a team of beings that protect the sleeping minds of humans. For if they were not protected, dangerous beings would enter the minds of sleeping humans. One of the beings that protects the human minds, what humans call 'Sleepwalker', was tricked by his enemy, Cobweb, into entering the mind of Rick Sheridan. After confronting Sleepwalker in many of his dreams, Rick tore off Sleepwalker's Imaginator. This caused Sleepwalker and Rick to bond together. Now, whenever Rick Sheridan goes to sleep, Sleepwalker materializes into reality. (Sleepwalker v1 #3)
Overview
Personality and attributes
According to Rick Sheridan, the Sleepwalker's voice sounded like Vincent Price. (Fantastic Four v1 #644)
Rick Sheridan was a college student at Metropolitan University. One night, he dreamed that a bizarre, green-skinned being appeared while he was playing basketball. When he fell asleep again, the entity reappeared and interrupted his dream with his girlfriend Alyssa. Rick fought it and wrestled away an amulet the being wore, making it vanish. Rick's triumph did not last, as when he turned on his TV he found that it had appeared in the real world. Rick worked out that the dream creature could only manifest while he slept, so he tried to stay awake as long as possible. However, when thugs robbed a store he was in, they knocked him out, releasing the Sleepwalker. (Sleepwalker v1 #1)
After observing how humans frequently keep dogs as companions, Sleepwalker created Dogwalker as his own companion in the Mindscape to better understand human nature. (Lockjaw v1 #4) The dog seemingly had the same Warp Gaze ability as Sleepwalker as they were capable of firing a red beam from their eyes that could destroy Nightmare Creations. (Lockjaw v1 #3)
Powers and abilities
He came to learn the language of whatever his host spoke. If Sleepwalker had been trapped in the mind of someone who spoke another language, like French or German, he would have begun using that language when he first appeared in the human world. (Sleepwalker v1 #1)
As an alien resident of the Mindscape, Sleepwalker has exceptional visual abilities, being able to see over a much farther distance than an average human and sense energy trails. Due to his bond with Rick Sheridan, Sleepwalker shares a mental link with him and must periodically return to his mind to survive. He can also enhance psychic abilities and possesses a limited resistance to them. (Fantastic Four v1 #645)
He also has an ability called the Warp Gaze, a vision- based power which allows him to manipulate the matter it falls upon. As a law enforcer of the Mindscape, he has sworn not to use it any living entity, because it can cause extreme pain to the organism as well as showing them their worst nightmares. (Sleepwalker v1 #1)
Sleepwalker discovers that he can harness the power of the Infinity Gems without having to use them directly. (Infinity Wars: Sleepwalker v1 #4) He could willfully tap into the infinite and ill-defined powerbase of the Infinity Circuit, which interconnects each cosmic gemstone that forms the backbone of the bulwark, upholding its universal firmament without needing to withhold any of them to access their power. His travels from the various realms within showed him which jewels empower what element of the circuit and how best to utilize them himself. (Infinity Wars: Sleepwalker v1 #3)
One item used by his people were the Imaginators that was a badge-like device worn by sleepwalkers used to teleport around their home plane, the Mindscape. (Sleepwalker v1 #3)
