Biography
Scrooge McDuck was a male duck who was the first son of Fergus McDuck and Downy McDuck, is the richest duck in the world. Born in 1867 in Scotland, he left in 1880 for the United States of America, where he sought wealth for a decade before finding it in the Klondike in 1896-1898
Donald first mentions in this story that his uncle practically owns Duckburg. Scrooge first hints that he was not born into wealth, as he remembers buying the Hourglass in Morocco when he was a member of a ship's crew as a cabin boy. It is also the first story in which Scrooge mentions speaking another language besides his native English and reading other alphabets besides the Latin alphabet, as during the story, he speaks Arabic and is able to read the Arabic alphabet.
Scrooge was seen attempting to reacquire a magic hourglass that he gave to Donald, before finding out that it acted as a protective charm for him. Scrooge starts losing one billion dollars each minute and comments that he will go bankrupt within 600 years. This line is a parody of Orson Welles's line in Citizen Kane: "You know, Mr. Thatcher, at the rate of a million dollars a year, I'll have to close this place in... 60 years." To convince his nephews to return it, he pursues them throughout Morocco, where they had headed to earlier in the story. Memorably during the story, Scrooge interrogates Donald by having him tied up and tickled with a feather in an attempt to get Donald to reveal the hourglass's location. Scrooge finally manages to retrieve it, exchanging it for a flask of water, as he had found his nephews exhausted and left in the desert with no supplies. As Scrooge explains, he intended to give them a higher offer, but he just could not resist having somebody at his mercy without taking advantage of it.
Overview
Personality and attributes
In appearance, Scrooge McDuck was an elderly, bipedal avian creature that possessed the biological features of an anthropomorphic duck integrated with a highly distinct Victorian-era aristocratic aesthetic. He possessed a clean, white plumage that covered the entirety of his body, with the explicit exception of his facial extremities and lower limbs. His head featured two dark, oval-shaped eyes, thick white sideburn tufts protruding from the sides of his cheeks, and a long, broad yellow bill. Perched on the bridge of his bill was a pair of small, black-rimmed reading glasses. For his uniform, Scrooge wore a formal black top hat with a red fabric band around the base, a tailored blue frock coat adorned with red cuffs and a red collar, and a pair of matching spats over his yellow webbed feet. He constantly carried a dark, curved wooden walking cane that he utilized for both mobility support and physical leverage.
Scrooge keeps all these coins and banknotes as souvenirs of the adventures he went through to earn them, and apparently remembers how he earned every single one of them. He also loves to swim in the money bin as if it were a swimming pool, a logic-defying ability he is one of the only people in the world to possess.
Scrooge's diet is always rather frugal, as, of course, he hates spending money on needless luxuries. However, other than the various canned foods, Scrooge has a rather peculiar diet. For meat, he mostly eats quails.
Scrooge is the maternal uncle of Donald Duck, the brother-in-law of Quackmore Duck, and the maternal grand-uncle of Huey, Dewey, and Louie Duck.
Powers and abilities
Scrooge McDuck was born a member of the avian race where he was a member of the duck species. On a basic feats level, his standard anatomy granted him standard waterfowl traits, such as natural buoyancy in water and highly resilient webbed limbs. However, his decades of global exploration and physical labor granted him exceptional physical conditioning far exceeding that of a baseline biological duck of his advanced age. He possessed immense physical durability, allowing him to dive and swim through solid gold coins as if they were a liquid medium without sustaining bone fractures or contusions. His manual dexterity was highly refined, enabling him to use his walking cane as an offensive weapon to strike opponents, hook objects from a distance, or bounce safely across hazardous terrain. Additionally, he possessed an elite tier of human-level financial intelligence, historical expertise, and strategic resourcefulness, making him a master business tycoon capable of identifying ancient relics and outsmarting organized criminal networks.
Scrooge is the richest duck in the world, an achievement he credits to having been "smarter than the smarties, tougher than the toughies, and making it square."
Scrooge's fortune is too large to count, especially considering that he earns more million dollars every minute; although a lot of it is invested or kept in bank, Scrooge also owns a baffling amount of cash which he keeps in large "Money Bins"; his main one is located on Killmotor Hill, in Duckburg.
