Biography
Salvador Romero
One month after Sal protected the community of migrant workers amongst whom Leo lived from the first attack of Jinni Dagaal's War Devils, the Hulk and his travel companion Charlie Tidwell found shelter with them. When another War Devil approached their settlement, Sal sensed the threat to Leo's life, but mistakenly thought it was the Hulk who posed that threat, prompting him to attack the Jade Giant. The misunderstanding was eventually resolved and the War Devil was slain. (Incredible Hulk v6 #7) Sal and the Hulk later joined forces to defeat Jinni Dagaal and his War Devils once and for all. In appearance, Sal Romero as Ghost Rider '44 was a towering, supernatural entity defined by a skeletal physiology completely engulfed in hellfire. His skull, devoid of flesh and bleached white, radiated intense orange and yellow flames that flickered constantly from his eye sockets and jawline. His frame was clad in heavily distressed United States military attire from the World War II era, consisting of a dark olive-drab M1943 combat jacket and matching trousers. Strapped across his torso were weathered leather ammunition pouches and a webbing harness, which held a combat knife and vintage military gear. His hands, entirely skeletal, were covered by fingerless leather riding gloves, and his lower legs were wrapped in standard-issue canvas gaiters tucked into heavy, black leather combat boots. In place of the traditional spiked chains worn by other Spirits of Vengeance, he wrapped a thick, glowing, flame-wreathed heavy towing chain tightly around his right shoulder and chest. When manifested in the modern day, this spectral ensemble remained completely unchanged, retaining the scorched, battle-worn appearance of a soldier who had risen straight from a 1944 battlefield.
