Biography
Remus was a red haired female Mutant who was born thousands of years ago and was the twin sister of Romulus. (Wolverine v2 #311) Over the course of her existence, she and her brother had seen entire civilizations built along with being destroyed. These included the Hunnic Empire, Roman, Greek and even the Third Reich that sought glory only to fall to ruin. (Wolverine v2 #312) Years ago, Remus along with her brother Romulus were in the company of Creed and Logan where they sought out the Weapon X facility. They looked to make the facility their own when they were confronted by super-powered agents of Department H with this consisting of Electrode, Bayonet, Savage and Black Wolf. Logan slaughtered their foes and volunteered to go forward with Romulus's plan at using Weapon X in creating their own super-soldier as the template for forging their own empire. Before undergoing the act, Logan handed over his sword to Remus stating as he cared for her which she accepted. As Logan was put into the Weapon X experiment, Remus attempted to get her brother to release him as she was romantically attached to him. However, he refused causing her to sever ties with Romulus who blanked Logan's mind of memories of his sister. (Wolverine v2 #313)
After Romulus was freed from the Darkforce dimension, Wolverine battled him by the rebuilt cabin where Silver Fox was murdered. Remus struck from the snow and shadow, interrupting the struggle between Wolverine and Romulus by driving a long blade into Romulus’s side and forcing the elder planner back from his prey. This provided a distraction for Logan to recover though Romulus escaped. When asked who she was, Remus simply kissed Wolverine stating that she wanted to do that for a long time and whispered that the answers he was seeking were in the old Weapon X facility in Canada. (Wolverine v2 #310) Upon arriving there, Logan was attacked by numerous clones of Sabretooth with Remus arriving to help him with the pair escaping on her ship. She revealed to him that she was Romulus's twin and wanted Wolverine's help in killing her brother. Remus also told Logan that Romulus had lied about the 'lupin' origins he claimed and that his schemes reached into genetics and weaponization. She fought alongside Logan to destroy the Weapon X installations Romulus had been using and to expose the clones and tanks hidden there. (Wolverine v2 #311) Remus fought openly with Wolverine above the Canadian Rockies, using both swordplay and a regenerative resilience that made it clear she shared extraordinary healing with Romulus; during their exchanges she supplied Logan with historical context about Romulus’s real goals — the harvesting of adamantium and the fabrication of a new, engineered line of beings — and she pressed him to sever Romulus’s grip on the Weapon X project. (Wolverine v2 #312) Remus accompanied Wolverine to Romulus’s stronghold in Italy, watched as Logan broke Romulus free of his Weapon X tank and engaged him in brutal combat, and remained at Logan’s side as Romulus was finally subdued and taken into custody; afterwards she lingered with Logan, sharing a private moment before fading from his immediate recollection as the fractured memory of the events settled. (Wolverine v2 #313)
Overview
Personality and attributes
In appearance, Remus was a lean, wiry woman with long red hair and tattoo markings on her face around her eyes. Her dark hair whipped by the wind and half-covered by a fur-lined cloak that read as both travel rags and battlefield kit; she wore leather and layered garments cut for movement rather than ceremony, and she carried a long, plain-edged sword whose balance and length suited precise, killing strikes rather than brutish hacking. (Wolverine v2 #310)
Remus behaved with the same combination of urgency and controlled ferocity that had defined her first intervention: she had been blunt and single-minded, speaking little but acting decisively, moving through the fight as though she measured lives against a longer plan and tolerated no delay; she allowed tenderness only as a tool—cradling and kissing Logan not from innocence but as a means to steady him and implant a direction—yet beneath that professionalism there was a current of personal grief and fierce resolve, the sort of quiet obsession that pressed her to stop Romulus by any necessary measure. (Wolverine v2 #310)
She stated that she was not one to play games as that was more something her brother did when meeting others. Remus stated that not many men lived if they touched her without her consent though Wolverine was one of the few exceptions. (Wolverine v2 #311) By the modern day, she came to oppose her brother and believed she should have acted against him years ago. The source of this dispute between the siblings arose over him placing Logan in the Weapon X program which she felt was not the best for her. (Wolverine v2 #313)
According to Logan, her accent was Italian with a hint of Japanese making it distinct and recognizable. (Wolverine v2 #310) She shared this accent with her brother Romulus. (Wolverine v2 #312)
Powers and abilities
As a Mutant, she had a healing factor allowing her to regenerate from damaging wounds such as losing all the flesh from her arm with this repairing within a matter of moments. As such, she had been around in the world for a very long time. (Wolverine v2 #312)
She was noted for possessing conditioned musculature, reflexes honed for close combat, and an exceptional regenerative resilience that allowed wounds to close and bleeding to slow far faster than normal human physiology permitted; she relied on veteran swordcraft rather than superpowers — rapid strikes, deft parries, and battlefield movement. (Wolverine v2 #310)
Remus was noted to hold impressive skills that were similar to that of Elektra. (Wolverine v2 #312) She usually had a pair of katanas that were gifts given to her. (Wolverine v2 #311) One of these swords was given to her by Logan long ago. (Wolverine v2 #313) Beneath her wrist were a group of blades that could be extended in order to stab her foes. (Wolverine v2 #312)
Over the course of centuries, Remus had managed to amass a large fortune. (Wolverine v2 #313) Remus also had tacit knowledge of Romulus’s methods and Weapon X facilities that made her dangerous both in a duel and as an operative confronting engineered threats. (Wolverine v2 #310)
