Biography

Paul Hark

When Gow was murdered, Red Lotus was led to believe that the culprit was Gambit by the Examiner, who wanted to gain control of the Triad for himself. (X-Treme X-Men v1 #5)

Red Lotus eventually realized how he had been deceived, especially after seeing the Examiner's torture of the captured X-Men. Teaming up with Gambit, he freed Rogue and Sage and foiled Shaw's takeover of the Triad. (X-Treme X-Men v1 #6)

His grandfather was a man named Gow Yang Ju who was a senior crime boss in the Sydney Triad who was known as Father Gow. (X-Treme X-Men v1 #5)

Red Lotus is a highly athletic skilled martial artist. He's extremely proficient in hand-to-hand combat. (X-Treme X-Men v1 #6)

As the grandson of Father Gow, Hark was the heir apparent of the Sydney Triad that operated in Australia. (X-Treme X-Men v1 #5)

  • Red Lotus was created by Chris Claremont and Salvador Larroca where he made his first appearance in X-Treme X-Men v1 #5 (November, 2001).

  • In Dark Phoenix, the character with his original name was set to debut in the live-action film where he was portrayed by actor Andrew Stehlin. However, the credits listed an original character in this role with the name Ariki. He was one of the inhabitants of the island nation established by Magneto. Later on, he joined him along with Selene and Beast to face Jean Grey who had been possessed by the Phoenix Force. After fighting the X-Men who were trying to save Jean, they were captured by the government. After being released from the Inhibitor collar on the train, he was killed by a D'bari.
