Biography
Old Lace
Overview
Personality and attributes
In appearance, Old Lace was a large, bipedal reptilian creature that possessed the structural biological physical traits of a prehistoric theropod dinosaur, specifically resembling a Deinonychus. Old Lace possessed a textured, leathery skin tone covered in a deep purple coloration that extended across the entirety of her muscular body. The head was elongated and narrow, featuring a wide mouth lined with rows of sharp, white teeth, two dark eyes, and a highly distinct row of small, flexible sensory protrusions resembling short tentacles or whiskers along her snout. Old Lace possessed two short upper limbs that terminated in three sharp claws, and two muscular lower limbs built for high-speed terrestrial locomotion, with each foot featuring a massive, curved sickle claw on the inner toe designed for slashing targets. A long, thick, muscular tail extended horizontally from her lower back to provide physical balance during movement. Old Lace did not wear any garments, uniform, or armor, remaining entirely in a natural biological state. (Runaways v1 #3)
Powers and abilities
Old Lace was born a member of an engineered reptilian race of a genetically modified Deinonychus species created in the 81st century. On a basic feats level, this specialized genetic blueprint granted Old Lace immense physical strength, speed, and agility far exceeding that of a baseline biological animal, allowing her to easily tackle human adversaries, leap over structural barriers, and tear through metal obstructions with her teeth and claws. Old Lace possessed a highly advanced, artificial genetic trait that linked her nervous system directly to Gertrude Yorkes, establishing a permanent two-way telepathic and empathetic connection. This bond allowed Old Lace to instantly comprehend and execute complex tactical commands issued by her handler without the need for verbal communication. Additionally, while Old Lace possessed near-human cognitive intelligence and problem-solving skills, this genetic link caused her to mirror Gertrude Yorkes' physical state, meaning that any physical trauma or pain inflicted upon Gertrude Yorkes would be immediately felt and suffered by Old Lace as well.
