Biography
Nekra
Nekra directed a group of women in a rhythmic chant of hatred to facilitate the liberation of the Mandrill. She initiated an explosion that caused a residential building to ignite and burn. Upon being confronted, she engaged in hand-to-hand combat, utilizing her physical strength to throw an opponent to the ground. She struck two leopards, rendering both animals unconscious with her bare hands. She remained stationary and unaffected when a knife was driven against her skin, allowing the blade to shatter upon impact without sustaining a wound. During the continued physical altercation, she resisted various strikes until she was placed in a specific submission hold, which resulted in her losing consciousness. (Shanna the She-Devil v1 #5)
Afterwards, Nekra acted as the field leader for the subversive organisation known as Black Spectre. While in San Francisco, she encountered the Black Widow, who had fallen from a building after her line snapped. Nekra stepped on the Black Widow's hand to prevent her from recovering her footing and attempted to forcefully recruit her into Black Spectre. Upon being met with refusal, she engaged in a physical confrontation and utilized her strength to render the Black Widow unconscious. Nekra then physically carried the unconscious individual away from the scene. Later, she directed Black Spectre agents in the defacement of major American landmarks, including the Statue of Liberty and the Washington Monument, as part of a larger plan to broadcast their message of chaos. She remained in command of these operations while coordinating with her unseen associate, the Mandrill, to maintain the group’s hold on the city. (Daredevil v1 #109) She escorted a brainwashed Black Widow to the Mandrill's presence aboard a mobile vessel. She remained present as the Mandrill recounted their shared origin, which involved their parents' exposure to radiation at Los Alamos and their subsequent meeting in the desert. Within these recounted events, she fled from her home at a young age, encountered her future partner, and spent years living as a nomad while educating herself through stolen books. She participated in a confrontation against an angry mob, during which she discovered her physical invulnerability while in a state of high emotional intensity. In the issue's present-day events, she stood by while the Mandrill revealed his identity to Daredevil and declared his intention to overthrow the United States government. She did not engage in the primary physical altercation between the Mandrill and Daredevil, instead maintaining her position within the Black Spectre's operational headquarters. (Daredevil v1 #110)
