Biography
Origin
Galen Nycroft was a deranged human scientist who lived on Eternia until he was imprisoned in the Royal dungeons for attempting to use his science to control the planet with a mind ray. Appearing human other than his deformed, enlarged eye which resembles that of Modulok, Nycroft is unfazed by the prison guards' mockery of him and vows to escape and prove himself. He summons a bat-like aid to his side with a component needed to teleport his final invention to the prison cell. Teleporting the large machine to the cell, he steps inside, and an explosion comes from within. He steps out in the mutated form of Modulok, and uses his greatly bolstered strength to break free from the prison cell. He contacts Skeletor and offers him his services, but Skeletor rejects him describing him as a "wimp scientist" and vows to only accept Modulok into his evil crew once he has proven himself. Modulok sets out to prove himself by capturing He-Man. He fails in his scheme, as he is deceived into capturing a teenage boy who is trying to impress his girlfriend by pretending to be He-Man's secret identity.
Modulok was an ambitious, treacherous rogue warrior and former slave of Skeletor who broke away to forge his own path of power. Seeking a position of high authority, he deliberately traveled to find Hordak, knowing the supreme leader of the Evil Horde harbored a bitter personal hatred for Skeletor. To prove his absolute loyalty and lethal utility to his prospective master, Modulok engineered a highly deceptive, multi-stage assassination plot targeting the Royal Palace of Eternia. He severed his own modular body parts and packed them individually into separate, innocent-looking cardboard boxes labeled as gifts for the Heroic Warriors. Once these packages were safely brought past palace security, the scattered pieces autonomously broke out, combined into their monstrous form, and ambushed He-Man inside the palace walls to secure a place in the Horde.
Modulok was responsible capturing the heroic character Roboto and reprogramming him, then reviving him to carry out his own evil deeds. He proceeds to attempt a Frankenstein-like experiment on Man-At-Arms, intending to transfer his brain power into his second head so that he can possess Man-At-Arms' scientific knowledge for himself.
Filmation
The man who would become Modulok was once a human scientist known as Galen Nycroft. At some point, Nycroft was imprisoned by the Eternian royal guard for attempting to use his science to control all of Eternia with a mind ray. While languishing in the royal dungeon, Nycroft was unfazed by the prison guards' mockery of him and vowed to escape and prove himself. Nycroft summoned a bat-like aid to his side with a component needed to teleport his final invention to the prison cell. Teleporting the large machine to the cell, he stepped inside, and an explosion comes from within. He stepped out in the mutated form of Modulok, and used his greatly bolstered strength to break free from the prison cell. Once free, Modulok contacted Skeletor and offers him his services, but Skeletor was not impressed, dimissing him as a 'wimp scientist'. Skeletor vowed to only accept Modulok into his evil warroprs once he had proven himself. Modulok therefore set out to prove himself by capturing He-Man, though he failed in this scheme. Later, working alone, Modulok appeared to have become the sworn enemy of Man-At-Arms. He captured the heroic warrior Roboto and reprogrammed him to carry out his own evil deeds. He then attempted to experiment on Man-At-Arms, intending to transfer his brain power into his second, cybernetic, head so that he could possess Man-At-Arms' scientific knowledge for himself. Modulok was later seen amongst Skeletor's minions at Snake Mountain, indicating that he had somehow managed to gain acceptance into Skeletor's forces.
Overview
Personality and attributes
In appearance, Modulok was a grotesque, multi-bodied red monster whose physical form lacked a fixed anatomy or any symmetrical human structure. He possessed two completely distinct, monstrous heads that featured sharp fangs, large pointed ears, and prominent, ridges along the cranium. His physical build was composed of an erratic, highly mismatched assortment of insectoid, reptilian, and humanoid features made of a bright crimson hide. He possessed multiple sets of asymmetric limbs, including segmented legs with heavy green knee pads, grasshopper-like lower legs, and a variety of distinct claws and traditional arms. His entire torso was divided into thick, segmented thoracic armor plating that resembled a giant alien ant, completely devoid of any uniform or standard clothing. He was also known as the Evil Beast of a Thousand Bodies.
Powers and abilities
Modulok was unique in that his action figure was made up of 22 different pieces which could be locked together to form different shapes. The character was conceived as a multi-bodied monster who can reform himself into thousands of different forms to confuse his enemies.
Modulok possessed a bizarre array of physical attributes and supernatural shifting traits centered around his unique title as the evil beast of a thousand bodies. He possessed the absolute ability of complete physical modularity, allowing him to seamlessly disconnect, split, and rearrange his limbs, torsos, and heads into countless monstrous configurations. This anatomy enabled his severed pieces to act as separate, autonomous entities that could crawl independently and later reassemble into a singular massive creature or dual independent beasts. He exhibited a high degree of superhuman durability, allowing him to survive decapitation and severing without experiencing any physical trauma, blood loss, or pain. Additionally, he was highly proficient with advanced weaponry, utilizing a double-sided laser rifle that could be split into two separate pistols to strike multiple opponents at once.
He was also known for creating Multi-Bot.
