Biography

David Linus "Microchip" Lieberman

His father was said to had been forced to create weapons against his will years before Micro was born. (Punisher v2 #46)

Once a respected systems analyst and software engineer, Lieberman’s life changed after he was forced into hiding following exposure of his illegal hacking activities. (Punisher v2 #4)

It was during this period of exile that he learned of the Punisher’s war on crime and, inspired by Castle’s uncompromising crusade, decided to put his technological genius and logistical skill to use aiding him. (Punisher v2 #4)

At a later point, he attempted to take a break and better control his health by enrolling in a rural camp for overweight people, which claimed to offer a revolutionary weight-loss drug to participants. However, he is once again drawn back into crime-fighting and seeking Castle's aid when he realizes the camp is a front for an amphetamines ring, and that the 'weight-loss' drug was in fact intended to turn the camp's attendees into addicts. Overview

Personality and attributes

In appearance, Microchip was a middle-aged man of heavyset build, balding, and usually dressed in plain, utilitarian clothing suitable for long hours of technical work. (Punisher War Journal v1 #3)

Microchip’s personality was defined by pragmatism, wit, and loyalty tempered by moral doubt. He was often sarcastic in tone, masking his unease with humor, yet his dedication to Castle bordered on paternal. While he respected the Punisher’s skill and resolve, he also feared what the mission was turning them both into. His attempts to humanize Castle or steer him toward moderation were rarely successful, and their relationship became more businesslike over time—a partnership of necessity rather than friendship. Still, beneath his cynicism, Microchip retained a flicker of empathy that kept him distinct from the ruthless vigilante he served. (Punisher: War Zone v1 #1)

It was noted that the couple had an illegitimate son with Jan being pregnant at a time when Linus had gotten into trouble with criminals. Wishing to stay out of danger, she separated herself from her husband and he respected her wishes as he severed contact with her. In that time, she had married Mr. Frohike and Linus's son was born who was named Louise Frohike. (Punisher: The Origin of Microchip v1 #2)

Linus was noted to had mentioned to have had a sister who lived as a happy housewife in Ft. Lauderdale. (Punisher v2 #46)

Powers and abilities

His primary abilities and feats revolved around his unparalleled expertise in computer science and programming, which he used to conduct cyber-investigations and gather intelligence. He demonstrated the capacity to hack into sophisticated computer systems, including those of major crime figures, to uncover their secrets and financial dealings. (Punisher v2 #4)
