The Martians
The Martians operated as a highly advanced, predatory species of extra-terrestrial invaders who launched a sudden, catastrophic military campaign to forcefully conquer the planet Earth. Facing the imminent, slow death of their own home planet Mars due to severe atmospheric cooling, the desperate entities engineered an interplanetary transport network consisting of massive metallic cylinders launched via colossal space cannons. Upon arriving within the English countryside, the entities rapidly constructed towering, mechanized Tripod fighting machines to initiate a relentless sweep toward London. The invaders systematically pulverized local human defense forces and scorched entire municipal populations, establishing their supreme technological dominance over humanity.
The campaign ultimately collapsed when the entities succumbed to the local, microscopic terrestrial bacteria within Earth's atmosphere, which completely rotted their alien immune systems and halted the global invasion.
Overview
In appearance, the Martians were a genderless extra-terrestrial race of alien entities whose true forms were giant, rounded, and completely non-humanoid cephalopod-like structures that possessed a flaccid physical build. They completely lacked traditional internal skeletal systems, standard human facial dimensions, or bipedal limbs, appearing instead as a colossal, single-segmented head mass measuring about four feet in diameter. Their faces sported two oversized, unblinking dark eyes that lacked distinct pupils, and a broad, downwards-curved mouth cavity containing a sharp, flesh-tearing beak. Directly beneath this mouth opening extended two distinct clusters of eight long, slender, and highly prehensile tentacles that they utilized as hands for delicate mechanical engineering. Their bodies were wrapped entirely in a smooth, glistening dark-grey skin that constantly leaked oily secretions, while their internal anatomy was dominated by an oversized brain and a massive pair of lungs. The entities did not wear traditional manufactured garments or physical armor pieces, completely eschewing human clothing to expose their raw, moist hides, which buckled and struggled to move under the heavy weight of Earth's superior gravitational pressure.
The Martians were an extra-terrestrial brain-based race of alien entities, which naturally granted its collective membership the basic biological traits of profound longevity, an absence of physical aging, and a highly specialized digestive system that bypassed standard chemical processing entirely. Their unique, simplified biology did not possess a stomach or an intestinal tract, allowing them to sustain their bodies by directly injecting the fresh, living blood of captured human prey directly into their own veins. They did not possess innate superhuman strength, independent flight, or organic energy projection capabilities, relying entirely on an exceptionally high scientific and technological intellect that operated far beyond human comprehension.
Their primary capabilities allowed the species to construct massive, towering three-legged Tripod fighting machines, weaponize concentrated high-frequency heat into a invisible, lethal Heat-Ray beam, and project canisters of a dense, suffocating toxic Black Smoke to wipe out entire military battalions.
