Biography

Jackson Strode in Weapon Plus: World War IV v1 #1.

Jackson Strode

Strode underwent a physical transformation into a plant-based creature after being injected with the SO-2 serum by agents of the Weapon Plus program. Having been restrained and submerged in the Everglades, he emerged from the swamp as Man-Slaughter and attacked a group of mercenaries known as Blackgrass. During the engagement, he demonstrated the ability to withstand high-caliber gunfire, as bullets passed through his porous, vegetable-matter body without causing permanent damage. He utilised his malleable form to slip through physical barriers and reshaped his limbs into hardened, bark-like blades to impale his attackers. Strode pursued the remaining operatives through the wetlands, eventually cornering them and killing them in retaliation for his forced experimentation. After the conflict, he encountered the character Ted Sallis, also known as Man-Thing, and engaged in a brief confrontation before the two recognized their shared biological origins. Overview

Personality and attributes

In appearance, Man-Slaughter was a male entity of indeterminate human race whose physical form consisted entirely of dark, swamp-like vegetable matter. His face lacked traditional human features, instead possessing glowing red eyes set deep within a sunken, wooden brow and a mouth area defined by tangled roots and hanging moss. His body was towering and muscular in build, though his shape remained irregular and asymmetrical, characterized by a texture of wet bark, knotted vines, and dense foliage. He lacked a smooth skin surface, appearing instead as a semi-solid mass of organic forest debris with elongated, branch-like fingers. He wore no traditional clothing or costume, appearing completely nude, though his lower torso and limbs were frequently draped in naturally occurring thickets of moss and hanging weeds that functioned as a biological covering. Powers and abilities

Man-Slaughter demonstrated a range of superhuman abilities rooted in his bio-organic, plant-based physiology. He exhibited superhuman strength, allowing him to physically overpower multiple armed opponents and lift heavy objects with ease. His body possessed a unique porous composition that rendered him virtually immune to conventional projectile weapons; bullets fired at close range passed through his mass of moss and wood without slowing him down or causing physical trauma. He displayed advanced regenerative capabilities, quickly reassembling his form after taking damage. Man-Slaughter also showed a high degree of malleability, shifting his physical density to slip through tight gaps and narrow openings that would be impassable for a human. He transformed his extremities into organic weaponry, specifically hardening his hands and forearms into sharp, spear-like blades of bark to strike targets. Additionally, he moved through dense swamp terrain with significant speed and stealth, utilizing his natural camouflage to ambush enemies from within the vegetation.
