Biography
Luxanna Crownguard was a female human who lived in the kingdom of Demacia in the world of Runeterra. She was born the daughter of Pieter Crownguard and Augatha Crownguard with her having an older brother in Garen Crownguard with Lux growing up in the Demacian city of High Silvermere.
Some years ago, her uncle was noted to had been slain by a rogue mage.
She traveled on horseback alongside her older brother, Garen Crownguard, across the outer borders of Demacia to observe a Vanguard training patrol. While riding, she engaged in a relaxed, friendly conversation with her brother, though she grew visibly surprised by Garen Crownguard's sudden, rigid displays of military authority when instructing the local foot soldiers. The sibling interaction escalated into a serious ideological dispute when the topic shifted toward the ongoing activities of the Mageseekers, who were actively conducting invasive background investigations into several prominent noble families. Luxanna Crownguard openly voiced her intense disapproval of the state's draconian anti-magic policies, stepping forward to actively defend the rights of hidden mages to live in peace. Her vocal defense deeply unsettled and annoyed Garen Crownguard, who sternly warned her that magic was an absolute rot that would inevitably bring chaos to the kingdom. While she quietly fell back to avoid further argument, the confrontation established a profound internal rift between her hidden true nature and her family's absolute dedication to Demacian law. Luxana bluffed her way into the subterranean Mageseeker compound within the capital city of Demacia to secretly locate the heavily guarded prison cell of the state enemy, Sylas of Dregbourne. Struggling to control her volatile, surging inner magic, she approached his damp cell where he was kept secured in heavy petricite chains. Upon her arrival, Sylas of Dregbourne immediately recognized that she was covertly hiding supernatural abilities, noting that her sheer presence illuminated his dark dungeon cell like a brilliant light. Luxanna Crownguard grew visibly terrified that her forbidden status would be exposed, but Sylas of Dregbourne offered a tactical compromise, promising to teach her how to properly suppress and channel her internal energy matrices if she agreed to routinely bring him contraband books and updates about the outside world. This clandestine meeting established a highly dangerous alliance between the young noblewoman and the revolutionary captive, initiating a covert mentorship to master her light parameters without alerting her family or the kingdom's official enforcement divisions.
Her illicit nighttime infiltration loops into the Mageseeker dungeon complex were abruptly detected by her brother, Garen, and her formidable aunt, High Marshal Tianna Crownguard. Caught trying to assist the incarcerated revolutionist Sylas, the noble mage-prodigy was stripped of her operational autonomy and placed under strict familial arrest. To permanently neutralize her growing non-conformity and shield the family's lineage from her illegal light manipulation arrays, Tianna orchestrated an accelerated political marriage protocol to tether Lux to the crown prince, Jarvan IV. When her forced cooperation was met with Sylas being abruptly condemned to immediate public execution, Lux’s emotional containment parameters fractured, forcing her to choose between preserving her aristocratic privilege or weaponising her suppressed illumination magic to initiate a high-stakes prison break. She inadvertently catalyzed a catastrophic security breach within Demacia when her desperate attempt to intervene in Sylas’s public execution completely imploded. By physically rushing the execution scaffold, the young mage inadvertently allowed the condemned rebel to make physical contact with her skin. Sylas weaponised his specialized petricite chains to siphon her raw, latent illumination arrays, utilizing her stolen power to trigger a massive kinetic shockwave that shattered the execution platform and grievously wounded her brother, Garen. Amidst the ensuing chaos of a rapidly expanding mage uprising, a guilt-ridden Lux was forced into an immediate emergency extraction from the plaza. Rejecting instructions to seek shelter, she bypassed her family's defensive parameters and initiated a high-risk tracking loop to intercept Sylas before his revolutionary forces could storm the royal palace, desperately fighting to contain the systemic destruction she accidentally unleashed upon her kingdom.
Overview
Personality and attributes
In appearance, Luxanna Crownguard was a tall, slender, and athletic female humanoid of the human race who possessed a highly refined and aristocratic physical build. She had pale skin, large and expressive blue eyes, and a highly notable head of smooth, shoulder-length golden-blonde hair that she kept styled with a dark blue fabric headband secured across the top of her crown. Her countenance was youthful, expressive, and frequently carried a look of deep, hidden anxiety when addressing the laws of her realm. She wore the elegant and formal attire designated for a high-ranking Demacian noblewoman, which consisted of a long-sleeved, tailored blue and white textile dress accented by subtle silver trims along the cuffs and an embroidered Crownguard family crest displayed cleanly near the collar. Her uniform entirely lacked heavy battlefield armor plates, metallic gauntlets, or superhero capes, and she carried no visible handheld weaponry during her travels. She was known as the Lady of Luminosity and sometimes was referred to her title of Lady Crownguard with her also being given the alias of Radiant Lux.
Her aunt Tianna Crownguard was a notable warrior who served as High Marshal and had headed the kingdom's elite order of warriors known as the Dauntless Vanguard.
Powers and abilities
Luxanna Crownguard was born a member of the human race where she was a member of the Mage species, granting her the inherent biological capacity to manipulate internal spiritual pressure to bend ambient light waves to her will. She operated covertly as a hidden magical prodigy within the ultra-conservative Kingdom of Demacia, meaning her raw element-bending capabilities had to be strictly suppressed and concealed to protect her family's high noble status from total political exile. She possessed the unique power of Light Manipulation, allowing her cellular structure to voluntarily project brilliant flashes, blinding illumination arrays, and focused kinetic energy beams from her bare hands. Luxanna Crownguard possessed an abnormally high capacity to sense ambient energy currents and absorb environmental light parameters, though she completely lacked formal military training or structural control over her output thresholds during high-stress situations, operating entirely without any standard firearms, armor wraps, or mechanical devices.
