Lockdown
When the infamous Decepticon Deadlock failed in a mutiny against his commander and deserted, Megatron called on the bounty hunter Lockdown to find him and return him to the Decepticons. Lockdown, with the help of some slave traders, found Deadlock on an unassuming planet where a mysterious third, neutral faction had been in hiding for eons. Lockdown explained to Deadlock that even though Deadlock's former boss, Turmoil, wanted Deadlock dead, Megatron felt that Deadlock was too important to his plans to have him be destroyed. The slave traders had other ideas, and noted that there were other Transformer deserters somewhere on the planet, ones who must have partially rebuilt Deadlock. In exchange for helping find Deadlock, they demanded to be led to the hidden Transformers; if not, they would take Deadlock for their own purposes. Lockdown suggested that Deadlock lead the hidden Transformers into an ambush, and commented that Megatron's faith in Deadlock had best not be misplaced. However, when they met Deadlock at the arranged site, he had an army of Transformer deserters with him ready for a fight, plus he had been completely rebuilt and renamed himself "Drift".
Overview
Personality and attributes
In appearance, Lockdown appeared as a towering, exceptionally lanky, and skeletal cybernetic humanoid with a highly asymmetrical and menacing design. His chassis was primarily composed of dark, matte-black and deep-green plating, heavily adorned with sharp, protruding spikes across his shoulders and limbs. His face was entirely white, evoking a grim, skull-like visage that featured glowing green optics and a distinct vertical scar running through one eye. A completely blacked-out insignia block occupied his chest, visually cementing his status as a factionless mercenary. In his alternative configuration, he seamlessly compressed his tall framework into a sinister, heavily modified Earth muscle car outfitted with red headlamps, spiked bumpers, and an exposed hot rod engine block.
Powers and abilities
Lockdown possessed an array of lethal tracking capabilities, extreme physical combat proficiency, and advanced hidden weaponry that allowed him to effortlessly overpower multiple opponents. He wielded a large, mechanical capture hook on his right arm, which he used with brutal efficiency to snag, reel in, and pin targets during close-quarters brawls. His signature asset was a stolen, high-powered EMP generator mounted to his forearm that could emit debilitating electromagnetic pulses capable of instantly short-circuiting and rendering any Cybertronian unconscious. Additionally, his personal starship was outfitted with advanced active cloaking technology, enabling him to completely mask his presence and hide in plain sight right in the middle of major population centres.

Television
- In Transformers Animated, Lockdown was first created for the animated television series where he was voiced by actor Lance Henriksen. He was a student in Yoketron's Cyber-Ninja Corps, and one of the greater students at that. However, during the Great War, he somehow brought shame on the Corps and was booted out. Becoming a bounty hunter instead, his first act was to lead a Decepticon attack on Yoketron's training center and to steal the protoforms kept in storage. During the attack, he killed his former teacher and took his helmet. One of his other wartime jobs was to bring an intelligence officer who carried vital information in for questioning. He encountered Ratchet, broke off one of the Autobot's forehead chevrons and stole his EMP generator, turning the healing tool into a weapon. During said encounter, Lockdown's right arm was destroyed when he launched it at Ratchet, causing him to replace it with a decidedly more menacing one. He was also indirectly responsible for Arcee losing her memory. On Earth, he caused chaos across the streets of Detroit to deliberately lure out the Autobots and capture Optimus Prime, seeking to cash in on a massive bounty placed on Prime's head by the Decepticons. After successfully ambushing and subduing Prime, Lockdown imprisoned him inside his cloaked starship, planning to strip the Autobot leader of his unique modifications. When the remaining Autobots staged a rescue mission, Lockdown effortlessly outmanoeuvered and defeated them one by one, intending to harvest their best mechanical parts as trophies to upgrade his own body. However, his operations were ultimately thwarted when the veteran Autobot medic Ratchet—whom Lockdown had previously captured and traumatised during the Cybertronian War—overcame his psychological trauma to disarm Lockdown and free the captive Autobots, forcing the bounty hunter to retreat.
