Biography
Lilith
God demanded that angels bow to humans and love them more than him, but the archangel Lucifer refused because he saw humans as unworthy, for which he was cast from Heaven. Trying to prove to God that he was right about humanity's flaws, Lucifer 'twisted and tempted' Lilith's soul into a demon. Due to this wicked act, God had Lucifer imprisoned in a cage by Michael as punishment for this unforgivable offense. The Cage was closed with over 600 seals, 66 of which had to be broken for Lucifer to escape. As Lilith had been Lucifer's first demon, she was also made into the 66th seal; thus, if she died after 65 of the seals had been broken, her death would set Lucifer free. As the oldest demon, Lilith was created before even Cain and the other Knights of Hell. Shortly after her creation, Lucifer turned four more humans into demons. These four, Azazel, Ramiel, Asmodeus and Dagon became the Princes of Hell. Afterward, Lilith herself became trapped 'neck-deep' in Hell, rendering her unable to leave Hell on her own power. During her time down under, she began sending demons off to her to do her bidding. While she commanded absolute loyalty in hell, she had no control of demons topside. In order to control her army, she created a Crook, which would retrieve all of Hell's 'lost creatures' and bring them back to Hell. The mere existence of the Crook compelled demons to obey.
After Lucifer told Azazel that Lilith was essential to his release from the Cage due to her capability to break the seals, Azazel plotted to free her as part of his plan to free Lucifer. He acquired the Colt and manipulated Jake Talley into using it to open a devil's gate in May 2007. Although Azazel's plan was successful and Lilith managed to escape Hell through the opened gateway before it was closed by hunters Bobby Singer and Ellen Harvelle, Azazel was killed by Dean Winchester. Many demons fought ferociously to be the one to take over his position as the leader of Hell's army, while some chose to steer away from the plan of Azazel, but in the end Lilith managed to claim leadership and effectively control the demonic army. Lilith gained the support of the King of the Crossroads, Crowley, and instated him as her right-hand man. Lilith's inner-circle of followers also included a demon named Merrick whom she made her lieutenant and a unnamed demon who acted as Lilith's 'personal chef' by kidnapping and preparing human babies for Lilith to eat. Additionally, Lilith often had large groups of demons with her to act as her personal servants, lookouts, bodyguards, and assassins.
Lilith performed several deliberate and violent actions that established her as a primary threat. She arrived at a police station and entered the building while inhabiting the body of a young girl, initially maintaining a calm and deceptive facade to avoid immediate detection. She proceeded to systematically disable the occupants of the building, using her telekinetic powers to immobilize individuals and prevent their escape. She conducted a brief interrogation of a survivor, demonstrating a cold and playful cruelty by demanding to see a specific individual before escalating her aggression. Lilith then raised her hand and emitted a massive wave of white light, an action that resulted in the total destruction of the station's interior and the immediate death of everyone remaining inside, including police officers and a secretary. Following this act of mass casualties, she exited the ruined structure, leaving no survivors behind and demonstrating a complete lack of hesitation in executing high-ranking demonic orders. Overview
Personality and attributes
In appearance, Lilith was a female human child of Caucasian descent with soft, youthful facial features. Her face was rounded with fair skin, a small nose, and bright blue eyes that occasionally shifted to a solid, pupilless white when she exerted her supernatural power. She possessed shoulder-length, wavy blonde hair that was styled with a side parting and held back by a small clip. Her body type was that of a small, slender young girl of approximately pre-adolescent age, standing at a short height consistent with her host's biological development. She was dressed in a traditional, light-coloured nightgown made of a soft fabric that reached down to her mid-shins. The garment featured long sleeves with elasticated cuffs and a modest neckline adorned with subtle lace or ruffled detailing. She wore no shoes or additional accessories, appearing in a simple, domestic state that contrasted with her demonic nature. (Episode: Jus in Bello)
She was defined by a chillingly pervasive infantilism, a psychological mask she wore to contrast the ancient, rotting soul of the first demon with the innocent vessel of a young girl. She took a perverse, predatory delight in mimicking the whims of a child, demanding absolute obedience and 'playing house' with the terrified families she took hostage. This facade allowed her to weaponise the mundane; she found genuine amusement in the juxtaposition of her juvenile demands—such as birthday cake or bedtime stories—with the horrific violence she inflicted on those who failed to please her. There was no warmth in her laughter, only a hollow, mocking glee that surfaced whenever she broke a human spirit or forced a parent to commit an unspeakable act. This theatrical innocence was not a sign of lingering humanity, but rather a calculated form of sadism designed to maximise the psychological torment of her victims, proving that she viewed the world through the eyes of a spoiled, omnipotent brat who saw all of creation as a toy box meant to be smashed for her personal entertainment.
Beyond her childish whims, Lilith was defined by a profound, messianic zealotry that manifested as an unwavering commitment to the release of her creator, Lucifer. Unlike many of the younger, more chaotic demons who sought only personal power or random destruction, she operated with the disciplined patience of a high priestess, viewing herself as the ultimate instrument of a divine, albeit hellish, destiny. She possessed an absolute, almost religious devotion to the "Gospel of Lucifer," which allowed her to view her own existence as secondary to the success of the Great Plan. This fanatical loyalty made her exceptionally dangerous, as she was immune to the petty greeds and betrayals that plagued the demonic hierarchy; she was a true believer who moved the pieces of the 66 Seals with a cold, strategic precision. Even when faced with her own potential demise, she exhibited a terrifyingly calm resolve, ultimately viewing her own life as the final sacrifice required to break the lock on the Cage. This complete lack of self-preservation in the face of her "father's" return proved that her soul had been scrubbed of every human instinct, replaced entirely by a singular, apocalyptic purpose.
Powers and abilities
As 'Lucifer's first', Lilith was the oldest demon, and the most powerful of her kind. She out-ranked even fellow white-eyed demons and Azazel in the hierarchy of Hell, with only Lucifer himself as her superior. She commanded great respect from other demons, including Alastair, as well as being feared by most of them.
Lilith demonstrated several supernatural abilities characteristic of a high-ranking demonic entity. She exhibited the power of demonic possession, inhabiting the body of a young human female to interact with the physical world. She displayed telekinesis, which she used to physically pin her targets against walls and manipulate objects from a distance without physical contact. She manifested a unique form of destructive energy, often referred to as a white light blast, which she emitted from her hand to incinerate her surroundings and kill multiple individuals simultaneously. Lilith also possessed the ability to perceive and communicate with other supernatural beings, such as demons and ghosts, that were invisible to ordinary humans. She showed immense physical durability and resilience to standard weaponry, as well as the ability to teleport instantly between locations. Additionally, she exhibited a level of occult knowledge that allowed her to bypass protective seals and symbols that typically repelled other demonic forces. (Episode: Jus in Bello)
