History

The Labyrinth was a large and complicated maze, filled with strange twists and turns, traps, magical creatures, and other arcane things. It is located in another dimension, ruled over by Jareth, the Goblin King.

When a teenage girl's baby brother was kidnapped by Jareth, she ventured into the Labyrinth to find him, making a number of friends along the way and having an unforgettable adventure.

The immense, reality-warping landscape known as the Labyrinth served as the primary setting for a high-stakes psychological and physical containment when its absolute ruler, the Goblin King Jareth, transported a human infant named Toby to his castle at the center of the realm. Jareth initiated the crisis after the infant's teenage sister, Sarah Williams, inadvertently spoke a theatrical incantation wishing for her brother to be taken away by the goblins. The Goblin King manifested within Sarah’s suburban home, instantly altering the local spatial architecture and granting the girl exactly thirteen hours to navigate the shifting pathways of his domain before her brother was permanently transformed into a goblin. The initial phase of Sarah's journey was defined by absolute spatial disorientation, as the stone walls of the outer maze continuously altered their layout via optical illusions and hidden doors, forcing her to rely on untrustworthy local denizens like the dwarf Hoggle to mark her progress.

The internal supernatural landscape of the fortified maze experienced a volatile paradigm shift as Sarah progressed into the middle tiers of the domain, encountering a sequence of surreal biological hazards designed to systematically shatter her mental fortitude. Jareth monitored her tracking vector from his central throne room, deploying a chaotic troupe of shape-shifting, orange-fleshed creatures known as the Fireies, who possessed the unique physical ability to detach and juggle their own heads and limbs to terrorize the human traveler. Sarah narrowly evaded physical harm by forging an alliance with Ludo, a giant, gentle mammalian beast capable of telepathically commanding the planet's boulders, and Sir Didymus, a courageous fox-terrier knight guarding a toxic swamp known as the Bog of Eternal Stench. To permanently halt her advance, Jareth covertly spiked Sarah's ration supply with a magically drugged peach, instantly plunging her into a terminal, hallucinatory dream state within a lavish Venetian masquerade ball to make her forget the countdown.
