Biography
Khalid Nassour
Nassour walked through a severe storm in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, while carrying his skittish cat, Puck, in a shoulder bag. He entered a local gift shop to seek shelter from the rain and encountered a woman who claimed to be his aunt. This woman directed him toward a specific ancient artifact: the Helmet of Fate. Despite his initial skepticism and fear, Khalid reached out and touched the helmet, which prompted a mystical transformation as the artifact bonded with him. He suddenly found himself transported to a beach where he was confronted by the Egyptian goddess Bastet, appearing in the form of a giant cat. Bastet spoke to him about his lineage and the necessity of his role as a protector, informing him that he had been chosen to wield the power of Fate to combat an impending threat to the world. Khalid struggled with the weight of this revelation and the overwhelming sensory experience of the magic, yet he ultimately accepted the burden of the helmet's power before returning to the physical reality of Brooklyn as the new Doctor Fate. Overview
Personality and attributes
In appearance, Khalid Nassour was a male of Egyptian-American descent with a youthful face, brown eyes, and short, dark hair. He possessed a slender, athletic build and a medium height that reflected his status as a graduate student. During his initial introduction, he wore casual, modern clothing consisting of a blue hooded sweatshirt layered over a light-coloured t-shirt and paired with dark trousers. Upon his transformation into Doctor Fate, his physical form was largely concealed by the mystical regalia of the Nabu entity. This ensemble featured a blue, long-sleeved tunic with gold trim and a prominent golden belt. He wore a heavy, flowing yellow cape that fastened at his neck with a large circular amulet. Most notably, his head was encased in the iconic Helmet of Fate, a smooth, reflective gold helm that completely obscured his facial features, while his hands were covered by matching golden gauntlets that extended up his forearms. Powers and abilities
Khalid Nassour demonstrated several mystical abilities immediately following his acquisition of the Helmet of Fate. He exhibited the capacity for interdimensional travel as he was transported from a physical gift shop in Brooklyn to a separate, supernatural beach environment. While in this mystical realm, he showed heightened sensory perception and awareness, reacting to the overwhelming scale and presence of the goddess Bastet. Upon assuming the role of Doctor Fate, he manifested the ability to fly or levitate, moving through the air above the storm-ravaged city. He utilized chronokinesis or weather manipulation to influence the severe elements surrounding him, effectively calming the torrential rain and gale-force winds that had previously endangered the area. Furthermore, he demonstrated a level of superhuman durability and environmental resistance, remaining unaffected by the extreme weather conditions that had moments earlier caused him significant physical distress. He also displayed an instinctive grasp of magical energy, which allowed him to project himself as a figure of authority and protection over the Brooklyn skyline. (Convergence: Aquaman v1 #2)
