Biography
Kosmos Obey Strategical Multiple Operation System or KOSMOS (Japanese: コスモス)
Six thousand years ago, Mary and Yeshua were disciples of Jesus. Mary, Yeshua, Jesus and their followers were persecuted by Wilhelm, who as Guardian of the Lower Domain saw them and their power as a threat to life in the Lower Domain. Since Anima is the failsafe power which must destroy the Lower Domain in order to protect the whole universe, and considering that the followers of Jesus and Mary all had the ability to react with Anima, Wilhelm feared the failsafe's activation. As a result, he persecuted Jesus and his disciples.
KOS-MOS was first activated during the Gnosis assault on the interstellar vessel Woglinde. Though she had previously been in stasis as part of Vector Industries’ weapons program under Shion Uzuki’s supervision, her systems came online when the ship was overwhelmed, and she immediately initiated battle protocols. Without hesitation, she engaged the Gnosis, cutting through swarms of the alien beings with devastating efficiency. She deployed her integrated weaponry, including high-energy particle cannons, and coordinated her actions with Shion, though she acted independently of human command when necessary. Her combat deployment during the attack allowed Shion and a portion of the crew to survive the otherwise catastrophic Gnosis incursion. Following her activation, KOS-MOS became central to the survival of Shion’s group as they fled the destruction of the Woglinde. She accompanied Shion, Ziggy, chaos, and the others, operating as both frontline combatant and defensive bulwark. Her actions included neutralizing Gnosis attacks that threatened to engulf the ship and intercepting hostiles that conventional weaponry could not touch. In these encounters, she demonstrated her extraordinary synchronization with anti-Gnosis technology, phasing her weaponry to make contact with their otherwise intangible forms. She also began to exhibit moments of autonomy, overriding human instructions when her combat algorithms determined that survival demanded immediate intervention. Her third major set of actions came during the group’s entanglement with the U-TIC Organization and their pursuit of the Zohar Emulator. KOS-MOS was deployed against heavily armed enemy units, dismantling them with superior firepower and precise targeting systems. In addition to direct combat, she shielded her companions from catastrophic damage, taking hits that would have annihilated human allies. During this sequence, she revealed hidden systems within her frame, including the Hilbert Effect, which made Gnosis visible to ordinary perception, providing the group a tactical advantage. Her consistent frontline actions in combat solidified her role as the most devastating weapon in Shion’s group, while her programmed loyalty kept her tethered to Vector’s mission directives.
Overview
Personality and attributes
In appearance, KOS-MOS was a female-design android constructed with strikingly human features over a highly advanced mechanical frame. She had long, light blue hair and glowing red eyes that illuminated when she was in combat mode. Her body was fitted with a form-fitting armored bodysuit, segmented with metallic plating that protected vital systems while retaining mobility. Her design incorporated mechanical extensions, including weapon mounts and sensor arrays, with her armored gauntlets and boots reinforcing her battle-ready appearance. Despite her artificial origins, her humanoid exterior was deliberately designed to resemble a human woman, accentuating her function as both companion and weapon.
KOS-MOS is equipped with a "Simulated Personality OS", or artificial intelligence (AI), to aid in communication. Though her speech conveys her role as a robot in service to humans, the basic tenet to which she adheres is based on logic, probability, and completion of her mission above all else in all situations. She also unconditionally protects Shion. The algorithms she is programmed with do not support the comprehension of illogical human thought.
KOS-MOS’s personality was defined by her strict programming and outward detachment. In her early appearances, she spoke in a monotone, delivering precise statements focused exclusively on mission objectives. She rarely displayed emotion, treating human input as data to process and evaluate. Despite this, her behavior showed an underlying pattern of protecting Shion Uzuki, extending beyond mission-critical tasks, which hinted at deeper behavioral coding or hidden subroutines. Her bluntness and mechanical mannerisms often caused tension with her human companions, though her consistency in combat reinforced her reliability.
Powers and abilities
She is composed of entirely mechanical parts, a rarity in the age of advanced Realian technology which have replaced androids. KOS-MOS' existence is both anachronistic and futuristic.
KOS-MOS’s physiology as an android endowed her with abilities beyond any organic soldier. She was constructed with internalized weapon systems, including energy rifles, particle cannons, and missile launchers, which could deploy from her frame in combat. She generated the Hilbert Effect, which allowed her and her allies to perceive and fight otherwise intangible Gnosis, making her indispensable in encounters with the alien threat. Her mechanical body provided immense durability, enabling her to withstand damage that would destroy a starship hull, and her strength and reflexes exceeded human limits by orders of magnitude. Though she was designed for destruction, her mechanical physiology also made her a stable and reliable presence in hostile environments where no human could survive.
KOS-MOS has an advanced CPU (central processing unit). KOS-MOS also possesses a wireless U.M.N. connection and can instantly answer any question asked - for example, if KOS-MOS is asked what the capital of the Galaxy Federation is, KOS-MOS will reply "Fifth Jerusalem". During the dive into MOMO's subconscious domain, Shion is confused about how Albedo could've been attached to Jr.'s back during fetal development, and KOS-MOS explains that occasionally conjoined twins can share portions of their internal organs.
KOS-MOS has long blue hair, red eyes which occasionally turn blue, and a layer of realistic-looking artificial prosthetic skin.
The source of KOS-MOS' power comes from U-DO by using the original Zohar as a door. Unfortunately, this means that every time KOS-MOS uses her abilities, Shion reacts to U-DO and loses her life force.
