Juliet Starling lived as an ordinary high school student in California while secretly operating as a hereditary zombie hunter under the guidance of her family. On her eighteenth birthday, she rode her bicycle to San Romero High School to meet her boyfriend, Nick Carlyle. Upon arriving at the campus perimeter, she discovered that a catastrophic supernatural outbreak had occurred, transforming the entire student body and faculty into mindless undead entities. Juliet Starling immediately opened her decorated gym bag to retrieve her specialized, gas-powered chainsaw. She single-handedly engaged the zombie horde in violent field combat, utilizing an array of high-speed acrobatic maneuvers to decapitate the monsters. During the chaotic skirmish, she located Nick Carlyle, who had been bitten by a zombie while attempting to defend her. To prevent the virus from consuming his brain, Juliet Starling performed an emergency mystical decapitation ritual using her chainsaw, severing his head and casting an ancient spell that anchored his living consciousness to his detached head, which she then secured to her belt to keep him alive as they navigated the overrun campus.
