Biography

Jade of the Shang Dynasty in Jade v1 #1.

Jade

She led the Shanghai crime family she had inherited for millennia, other crime families believing that Jade was simply a title bequeathed to the woman controlling the family every generation. But by the twentieth century, she believed that China no longer had its former honor and dignity, and so she tries to restore this by using her supernatural powers to unite the Triad families underneath her, taking control of China itself. She also tries to form an alliance with Dracula, but the plan was averted by Purgatori. But Jade begins dreaming of the world thousands of years ago, the time of her true love, Shiro, who loved her despite the fact that she was a vampire. Shiro met his untimely demise at the hands of the dragon/human sorcerer Pai Lung, otherwise known as The White Dragon. Pai Lung did this seeking stores of an occult of ancient days, knowledge of this that was passed down to Jade by her father. Jade then proceeded to kill the White Dragon, and using the volumes of knowledge provided by the occult, she became a master of sorcery. Thanks to these dreams, she longs for Shiro again and feels her loss of humanity. Yet she still had small comfort in the form of her beautiful, mute assassin, Silence. The dreams are monitored by the Kuei, an agency that seeks to destroy the Triads, and she has become their main target.

The leader of the Kuei namely Mr. Ko became obsessed with bringing Jade's demise and not only had he sent his agents to destroy her. He had also used her dreams to create a cybernetic version of the White Dragon, who was an old enemy of Jade. But the old sorcerer had preserved his essence through magic and it seemed her had resided in Jade's mind for millennia lurking in wait for a time to get his revenge. And so it was that when an agent of the Kuei, Dreamer delved into Jade's mind and touched the dragon, Pai Lung learned of the cybernetic dragon and left Jade's mind using Dreamer's to get into the cybernetic version of himself. So now this cybernetic dragon has become the mighty sorcerer of ancient times, returning to destroy Jade. Jade met her new lover in the form of Chiang (a man who shared the appearance of Shiro), and though Silence was suspicious the two fell in love. He eventually was revealed to be a Kuei agent whose face had been reconstructed to resemble Shiro's but his love for Jade surpassed his allegiance to the Kuei and he told her their secrets, vowing to stay true to her. Jade then takes the fight to the Pai Lung, while Chiang steals a virus to trap the dragons essence in its cybernetic form. While trapped, Pai Lung is destroyed by technology and sorcery. Jade turns Mr. Ko into a vampire who now is eager to follow her lead, and thus Kuei joins Jade's ranks.

The ancient vampire and Triad leader Jade stood in the shadows of a modern night club, where her authority over her criminal empire was abruptly challenged by a sudden, violent assault. The anti-Triad government organization known as the Kuei manipulated her mind through a powerful telepathic agent named Dreamer. This mental intrusion forced Jade to experience vivid, painful dreams regarding her long-lost human lover, Shiro, which caused her to feel a profound and sudden regret over the loss of her own humanity after four thousand years of existence. Following these engineered visions, she was introduced to a man named Chiang, a mysterious operative whose facial structure had been surgically reconstructed by the Kuei to perfectly mirror the likeness of the deceased Shiro. Despite the deep suspicions of her loyal, mute protector Silence, Jade found herself drawn to Chiang and fell in love with him. At the same exact time, the agency escalated their offensive by utilizing advanced technology to create a massive cybernetic construct that resembled the White Dragon, an ancient sorcerer enemy of Jade's from the Shang dynasty. Because the spirit of the original sorcerer, Pai Lung, had been secretly lying dormant within Jade's own mind for millennia, the telepathic contact from Dreamer allowed the sorcerer's essence to escape Jade and possess this new mechanical dragon body. Confronted with the sudden resurrection of her ancient nemesis and a massive betrayal from a faction of her own supernatural followers who sided with the enemy, Jade gathered Silence and Chiang to wage a high-octane battle against the cybernetic dragon and the government forces in order to protect her dominion over China. Overview

Personality and attributes

A powerful vampire in Jade v1 #1.

In appearance, Jade bore the timeless elegance and lethal grace of ancient nobility. She stood around 5′3″ with jet‑black hair that cascaded past her shoulders, framing a porcelain face etched with centuries of experience. Her eyes were a striking green, glowing faintly in darkness, hinting at her vampiric nature. She dressed in stylish, tailored ensembles—modern yet classical—that emphasized her status as both crime matriarch and sorceress, often accented with jade-green silks or ornate jewelry. Her physique was slender but athletic, betraying supernatural strength beneath the polished exterior. When she unleashed her vampiric powers—whether in the shadows of Shanghai’s neon alleys or atop ancient mausoleums—her presence became even more imposing, as if the centuries she had lived crowned her as a living dynasty. (Chaos Bible #1)

In personality, Jade exuded a commanding intensity, reinforced by millennia of survival and ambition. She spoke with measured confidence, every word deliberate, soft-spoken yet undeniably authoritative. Having inherited leadership of a triad crime family, she had become a master manipulator, capable of aligning rival factions through respect and fear. Her sense of honor was archaic but firm: she constantly sought to restore what she saw as her country’s lost dignity by uniting the underworld of modern China. She commanded loyalty not just through power, but charisma—earning a blend of devotion and fear from the mafia ranks and supernatural allies alike. (Chaos Bible v1 #1)

Further depths of Jade’s characterization emerged in the revelation of her ancient origins and romantic grief. Born during the Shang Dynasty and turned by Purgatori, she had retained memories of her lover Shiro—a relationship that both anchored and haunted her. Though she had ruled in ruthless silence for centuries, vestiges of humanity persisted in her dreams and muted vulnerability. She was capable of tenderness, especially toward her mute assassin, Silence, who served as both protector and confidant. Those who witnessed her rare acts of compassion—such as sparing an innocent or revealing sorrow—perceived a more complex soul beneath the vampiric exterior. (Chaos Bible v1 #1)
