History

The Imperial Court Mage Corps (Japanese: 帝国宮廷魔導士団, Hepburn: Teikoku Kyūtei Madōshi-Dan) were elite magical warriors of the Alzano Empire that was dispatched to deal with threats. They were an elite, state-sanctioned paramilitary organization, specialized counter-terror agency, and high-ranking military division tasked with maintaining national security within the Empire. It ran its operations from a central command headquarters located in the imperial capital, functioning under the direct administrative oversight of the Alzano Royal Family. To handle highly volatile threats, the administration financed its premier elite squadron, the Special Missions Annex, which operated under a specialized system where top field executioners were designated by the 22 Major Arcana tarot card titles. The group's primary operational focus involved tracking, combating, and neutralizing a radical magical terrorist group known as the Researchers of Divine Wisdom.

Overview

In appearance, the Imperial Court Mage Corps was a highly structured military organization whose core administrative tiers and field divisions consisted entirely of young adult and teenage humans. They wore matching professional dress standard designed to project absolute state cohesion and military authority. Their garments consisted of an ultra-sleek, deep navy-blue and black leather combat tunic layered beneath a stark, high-collared white military trench coat detailed with polished silver trimmings, matching fabric trousers, and heavy-duty combat boots. High-ranking executioners paired this sleek operational uniform with specialized shoulder pauldrons and custom sidearm configurations to emphasize their supreme status during royal palace operations.

The corps had comprehensive state databases, intensive military drill training, and extensive institutional wealth to execute highly coordinated counter-intelligence sweeps, process national background files, and coordinate synchronized team strikes against rogue organizations. They did not possess a single shared, uniform superpower or collective physical invulnerability, relying instead on high-grade combat metallurgy, state-of-the-art surveillance networks, and high-tier individual masteries over military magic. Their specialized technology and casting disciplines allowed separate units to execute precise sniper extractions from miles away using long-range lightning arrays, materialize large-scale heavy greatswords using alchemy, and construct impenetrable kinetic barrier fields. When active field missions launched, the team utilized a specialized code system to completely override the standard vocal casting times of spells down to the millisecond. Their primary capabilities allowed them to pierce the standard tracking metrics of civilian wizard academies, command state-sanctioned enforcement squads, and maintain a highly disciplined barrier of elemental defense capable of neutralizing rogue high-tier entities.

One of the most elite divisions within the Corps was the Special Missions Annex (特務分室, Tokumu Bunshitsu) that comprised of mages represented by specific Arcana cards and had developed unique magical abilities to eliminate their enemies.
