Gwendolyn Poole in Deadpool's Secret Secret Wars v1 #2.

Gwendolyn Poole was a female human who was originally lived in the real world where superpowered beings were fictional characters that manifested only through comic books, movies and other media. (Unbelievable Gwenpool v1 #6) After graduating from high school, Gwen found it difficult to find a job with this being combined with the fact that all her friends moved away led to her submerging herself in fiction in order to escape from the reality of the real world. This saw her fantasizing about a better world causing her to become lazy and apathetic much to the chagrin of her parents. (Unbelievable Gwenpool v1 #16) Through unknown means, both Gwen and her brother Teddy ended up on Earth-616 but became separated on arrival. Whilst on this Earth, the each believed the other had not survived the transition into the comic book world. (Unbelievable Gwenpool v1 #18) In time, Gwen was unwilling to be relegated to the role of an 'extra' and went to Big Ronnie's Custom Battle Spandex where she requested a costume that stood out. The tailor named Ronnie complied but when looking through the form she had completed he had misread the young girl's alias as Gwenpool. (Howard the Duck v6 #2)

She later came to the offices of Hawkeye Investigations where Kate Bishop recruited her into the newly reformed West Coast Avengers. During this time, Gwen came to have a turbulent relationship with fellow teammate Quentin Quire. (West Coast Avengers v3 #1)

Personality and attributes

At one point, a group of civilians referred to her as the Ghostface No-Pants Killer. (Unbelievable Gwenpool v1 #1) She was also referred to by the name of the Pink Ghost. (Unbelievable Gwenpool v1 #3)

She was aware of the fact that she existed within a comic and spoke to the readers. In fact, she had read the comic books about this world. (Unbelievable Gwenpool v1 #1)

As Gwenpool, she aimed to be a superhero though the level of destruction caused by her endeavours led to people being scared of her. It was shown that she had no issues killing people she thought were bad guys. (Unbelievable Gwenpool v1 #1)

Gwen Poole was the daughter of Martha Poole and Ted Poole. (Unbelievable Gwenpool v1 #20) She also had a brother who was named Ted Poole, Jr.. (Unbelievable Gwenpool v1 #15)

Powers and abilities

Originally, Gwenpool was a human being from the real world in the Multiverse. (Unbelievable Gwenpool v1 #1)

She tended to make use of a range of different weapons. (Unbelievable Gwenpool v1 #1)

On Earth-616, she decided to start life as a mercenary and an assassin with her purchasing a pair of katanas for her first job. (Gwenpool Special v1 #1)

At one point, she gathered a team of all male mercenaries that dressed in similar uniform as herself with these being known as the Poole Boys. (Unbelievable Gwenpool v1 #9)

  • Gwenpool was created by Chris Bachalo and Christopher Hastings where she initially appeared on the cover for Deadpool's Secret Secret Wars v1 #2 (June, 2015) before full debutting in Howard the Duck v6 #1 (November, 2015).
