History

The Ten-Tails.

The God Trees (Japanese: 神樹, Shinju, English TV: Divine Tree) were parasitic plants that were used by the extraterrestrial Ōtsutsuki Clan.

During the Fourth Shinobi World War, Obito Uchiha summoned the Ten-Tails and initiated its final transformation into the God Tree. The colossal wooden structure immediately extended giant roots across the battlefield to attack the Allied Shinobi Forces. These roots pursued nearby ninja, wrapped around their bodies, and actively drained their chakra until the victims withered into emaciated corpses. The tree absorbed the energy of thousands of shinobi within minutes, causing its apex to sprout a massive, unblossomed bud. Obito stated that the bud contained the eye required to cast the Infinite Tsukuyomi once it fully bloomed. Hashirama Senju used his Wood Release to communicate with the alliance, while Hiruzen Sarutobi used a staff to free Naruto Uzumaki from a root's grasp. Soon after, the Allied Shinobi Forces retreated outside the immediate reach of the roots to reformulate their strategy. The God Trees achieved their final stage of global maturation when the ascended villain Madara Uchiha successfully activated the ultimate optical genjutsu technique known as the Infinite Tsukuyomi. To permanently bind the entire living population of the Earth to the planetary entity, Madara cast the God: Nativity of a World of Trees technique. The massive, reality-warping incantation manipulated the central root networks of the entity, forcing the dense wooden branches to violently burst through the soil and encase every human being in thick bark cocoons. This global connectivity kept the sleeping victims alive while systematically gathering all planetary chakra into a single centralized apex to sprout a divine Chakra Fruit.

The God Trees experienced a severe structural evolution three years after a rogue Ōtsutsuki agent named Code utilized his supernatural Claw Marks to slice a juvenile Ten-Tails seedling into thousands of humanoid fission soldiers known as Claw Grime. The mass-produced monsters went completely out of control, invading the Hidden Leaf Village and aggressively biting several high-profile ninja combatants. Instead of consuming the targets, the creatures rapidly mutated into individual wooden trees that completely encased and absorbed the living bodies of their victims. This collective biological consumption caused the underlying parasitic organism to completely transform, prompting the emergence of four independent, self-aware humanoid entities who called themselves sentient God Trees. The God Trees expanded their tactical parameters when the newly emerged humanoid iterations, led by the core entity Jura, developed unique personalities, high-level spoken communication skills, and personal desires. Unlike the mindless botanical plants of the past, these evolved entities inherited the distinct physical traits, memories, and exact chakra signatures of the specific humans absorbed by their lesser counterparts. Seeking to satisfy an innate instinct to consume specific targets, the entity Hidari—who was born from the template of Sasuke Uchiha—coordinated a target list that focused directly on the ninja's daughter, Sarada Uchiha. The evolved faction subsequently utilized their integrated spatial teleportation mechanisms to launch a direct military raid against the village to locate their prey and bypass the local modern shinobi forces.

Overview

In appearance, the God Trees were a species of colossal, ancient plant life that possessed a towering, woody trunk of massive proportions, covered in dark, rugged bark. The main trunk split into multiple thick, twisting branches that extended high into the sky, while a dense network of massive, serpent-like roots emerged from the base to spread across the surrounding terrain. These roots possessed the unique physical capability to forcefully coil around living organisms to physically restrain them. At the absolute apex of the primary trunk sat a gigantic, bulbous flower bud wrapped in thick protective layers of foliage. This central bud held a concealed eye, configured with concentric circular patterns and multiple comma-like ripple symbols known as tomoe. The overall structure lacked typical green leaves, appearing instead as a stark, skeletal configuration of immense scale that towered over mountain ranges and landscapes.

The God Trees demonstrated the ability to rapidly extend their massive roots across vast distances to actively pursue and track multiple targets simultaneously. Upon reaching a target, the roots physically coiled around the individuals to immobilize them and immediately initiated a high-speed chakra absorption process. This process siphoned the entire energy reserves out of living organisms within seconds, causing the victims to instantly wither, lose consciousness, and die from complete exhaustion. The roots could break through solid stone barriers and navigate terrain obstacles without losing momentum or structural integrity. Additionally, the main structure possessed the ability to channel all absorbed chakra upwards into its apex to feed and prepare its central bud for blooming. The tree also exhibited massive physical durability, remaining completely unaffected by the chaotic environmental elements and ambient destructive forces present on the battlefield.
