Biography

Origin

Glorith of Baaldur was a non-powered henchwoman of the Time Trapper who was sent back in time to the 30th century. She attempts to destroy the Legion by transforming them into children. However, when the pre-pubescent Legionnaires managed to defeat her, the Time Trapper de-aged her until she reverted to protoplasm.

Post-Crisis

Glorithverse

Ultra Boy began to suspect that Glorith had manipulated the timeline to replace another being (the Time Trapper) and steal his power, and that she would soon reach omnipotence. To stop her, he tricked Mordru into attacking her. Although the battle was essentially a draw, it cost her enough power to prevent her from conquering the universe. Eventually, Glorith learned of Ultra Boy's covert operations. To punish him, she sent his fiancée Phantom Girl a thousand years back in time (where she became the amnesiac Phase and joined L.E.G.I.O.N.), and made it seem that Phantom Girl had died.

Overview

Personality and attributes

In appearance, Glorith was a female sorceress from Baaldur who stood statuesque, humanoid form, crowned with long black hair that framed her angular face and sharp cheekbones—a visage that exuded both elegance and menace. A pair of piercing blue eyes gleamed with ancient confidence, set above thin, arched eyebrows that constantly hinted at cunning. She wore a form-fitting, dark-green sorceress’s gown that extended into a floor-length skirt with jagged hem, adorned with arcane sigils traced in silver thread. Her wide sleeves flowed to her wrists, revealing ornate gloves etched with runic etchings. An ornamental silver girdle encircled her waist, from which hung small arcane talismans and a golden hourglass—an artifact of considerable power. Around her neck rested a heavy amulet that pulsed with a mystic aura. Adventure Comics v1 #338)

Her personality was defined by unwavering confidence and ruthless ambition. These traits worked in tandem to set her apart as both sorceress and strategist. She believed herself destined for supremacy, never doubting her ability to outmaneuver even the greatest heroes of the 30th century. Her ambition was not mere arrogance; it was a calculated belief grounded in her arcane prowess and destiny to reshape reality. She was cerebral yet merciless, showing no hesitation in using others as pawns in her grand schemes. Her commanding presence suggested someone who wielded both power and purpose relentlessly, ready to subvert any obstacle with a confident smile and a ruthless plan. (Adventure Comics v1 #338)

Powers and abilities

Glorith was a Baaldurian Homo magi, a member of an ancient, magically evolved subspecies whose lineage granted them innate chronomantic affinity. Her species endowed her with natural traits of longevity—Baaldurians aged slowly and could harness temporal energies directly. From birth, Glorith possessed heightened magical sensitivity, enabling her to manipulate minor time flows and perceive chronological anomalies instinctively. Her physiology also granted enhanced resilience against temporal paradoxes or magical backlash, as well as a cerebral metabolism that facilitated complex incantations and ritual constructs with minimal physical strain. These basic traits made her a sorceress uniquely attuned to chronomancy, setting the foundation for her later feats of time manipulation. (Adventure Comics v1 #338)

Glorith has complete control over time itself. She is able to freeze it, alter it, and even separate parts of it, thereby allowing her to (paradoxically) maintain the Time Trapper's pocket dimensions. She has the ability to age or de-age living beings to a seemingly unrestricted degree. At its extreme, this power can easily end one's life. She can send individuals forward or backward in time. Unlike the Time Trapper, her powers are partially based in sorcery. Thus, she also exhibits abilities such as mind control and manipulation.

The current incarnation of Glorith has training in the use of sorcery, but is still a novice in the mystic arts. She has certain magical abilities that can be used spontaneously, but apparently requires prior preparation or the use of rituals for more significant effects.
