History

The Giant Clan (Japanese: 巨人族, Hepburn: Kyojin-zoku) were one of the five races of the world who came to inhabit the lands of Britannia. According to the Lady of the Lake, the Giant race were created by Chaos long ago following the creation of the Supreme Deity, the Demon King and the Sacred Tree. Chaos, however, was left disappointed with the Giants, viewing them as a wild race enslaved by their own power and knowing nothing beyond inflicting pain. Consequently, the Giants were a warlike people who lived for battle, their societies led by powerful warrior chiefs, with the strongest combatant earning the right to lead. Dying in battle was considered an honor among their kind, and they were often hired as mercenaries by human kingdoms to satisfy their desire for combat.

Around 3,000 years ago, the Giant Clan allied with the Goddess Clan, Fairy Clan and Humans and fought against the Demon Clan. An intense war was fought but ultimately, the allied races won with the Coffin of Eternal Darkness being used to seal the defeated demons. The Giant Clan proved to be a key member of the Stigma alliance, fighting alongside the Goddess, Fairy, and Human clans against the powerful Demon Clan. The Giants, known for their immense physical strength and connection to the earth (an ability called "Creation"), contributed significantly to Stigma's military might. Their leader at the time was Drole, revered as the founder and king of the Giant Clan, who was a formidable warrior and a respected ancestor for having developed a sacred dance to amplify their power. The Giants' battle-loving nature made them potent forces on the front lines, and they were often utilized as formidable combatants. Drole and the Fairy King Gloxinia were once part of Stigma's forces, even fighting alongside Meliodas and Elizabeth, and participated in missions such as the defeat of the demon Calmadios. However, the war took a heavy toll on the Giant Clan, and they suffered considerable losses. A pivotal moment occurred when Drole, the once proud king, was easily defeated by Zeldris of the Ten Commandments, an event that shattered his pride and led him to defect to the Demon Clan and become the Commandment of Patience. After a long and brutal conflict, the allied races, including the remaining Giants, emerged victorious, sealing the Demon Clan away using the Coffin of Eternal Darkness, after which the Giants retreated to their own realm, Mega Dozer, their population forever decreased by the war and their continued mercenary activities.

The Giants live for battle and were often hired by humans of different kingdoms to provide them the battles to fight as mercenaries. As a result, however, the Giant Clan's status is currently in danger due to deaths in battle they could find.

It was 33 years ago when the giant Dumbelbas was hired by the savage tribe to battle the Holy Knights as he easily kills a dozen of them before facing Matrona, who was also hired by the Holy Knights along with Diane and Dolores in single combat and was eventually killed, leaving the savages defeated and the Holy Knights victorious. The next day, Diane and Matrona were hired by the Holy Knights of Liones as mercenaries to annihilate some savages where they met up with Gannon and his troops. Matrona noticed the humans had siege equipment and grew concerned with their current situation. Their mission turned into a trap. It was a ruse Gannon had plotted to gain reputation by killing Matrona. Diane and Matrona engaged in the battle against the traitorous Holy Knights. In the midst of the brawl, a poisonous bolt was launched at Diane, but Matrona blocked the bolt with her leg. This severely crippled the warrior chief who then knocked off Gannon in his mid-gloating and broke half his teeth. Despite being weakened by the poison, Matrona used the last of her strength to kill Gannon and 330 other Holy Knights before supposedly dying. Diane mourned for Matrona's death before being captured by the Holy Knights of Liones and arrested under false crimes perpetrated by the survivors of Gannon's fiasco.

Around 23 years ago, the giantess Matrona drunkenly ravages Vaizel causing the Giant Clan is officially banished there.

Overview

In appearance, the Giants resembled humans but were much larger in size though some had more unnatural forms.

They were one of the races that were blessed with long lifespans allowing them to live for countless centuries. An inherent magical power to the Giant Clan was a connection to the earth with this being known as Creation. The power allowed them to bend the very ground to their will and shape it to their wishes. Long ago, Drole came to embody this talent that he showcased in the form of a dance that increased the proficiency of their power.

In Britannia, Giant society was noted for being led by great warrior chiefs. Their leaders were chosen in fighting contests where the strongest became the new head of their clans.

Giants were noted for being a warrior race where they believed in fighting in battles and earning glory in them. Thus, they scorned those members of their kind with no fighting talent and generally never ran from a fight even if it meant their death. It was said that it was preferable to die in battle than to flee the battlefield. Furthermore, they were generally taught to not show mercy and killed even defeated foes. As warriors, they were noted to had lived for battle with them having a symbiotic relationships with the kingdoms of man. This saw them hiring themselves out as mercenaries where they offered their employers their fighting strength whilst the giants got to fight and die in glorious battles.
