Biography

Original

Frost was a female inhabitant who came to live in Earthrealm where she was a formidable martial artist. During this time, she came to learn that Sub-Zero had intended to reform the Lin Kuei clan and had held a tournament to recruit the best of the best. Frost participated where she was a mysterious fighter that came to win the tournament and demonstrated freezing abilities similar to the Lin Kuei grand master. Breaking tradition, Sub-Zero decided to take the young Frost as an apprentice and train her himself. With his help, Frost came to better harness her Kori powers but she lacked humility with this being a lesson that Sub-Zero was unable to instil in her. During this time, Raiden came to request the aid of Sub-Zero in defeating the deadly alliance of the sorcerers Quan Chi and Shang-Tsung. This cut Frost's training short though she accompanied her master in the mission to Outworld. Frost was to assist her master though Sub-Zero had hoped that the mission would help her attain a new perspective and enlightenment that could not be achieved through battle alone. The pair joined Earthrealm warriors to stop the their mutual enemy which was where Frost met Special Forces soldier Sonya Blade though the two did not get along with one another. During their mission, Frost came to show her true nature and intentions as she had only joined her master to betray him as she desired the position of Grandmaster of the Lin Kuei for herself. Whilst alone with Sub-Zero, she turned on him and froze him in place whilst she took the Dragon Medallion from him. The relic not only enhanced the users powers but was a symbol of their clan's leadership. However, Frost lacked the strength and discipline to control the power of the medallion which began to consume her causing her to freeze with her seemingly being killed in the process. In the aftermath, her body was taken by Sub-Zero who came to forgive his pupil for her betrayal and decided to bury her remains in a suitable place. Within Outworld, he came upon the ancient ruins of a holy structure that he came to learn had been created by the long-lost race of Cryomancers. He came to believe during a study of the site that both he and Frost were descendants of these warriors where he came to rest her body in a sarcophagus before leaving the location.

Reboot

During the Armageddon, Shao Kahn ultimately won where all of creation faced destruction but during the last moments of Raiden he managed to his past experiences back to his younger self. This created a change in the timeline as the younger Raiden was guided by the scattered visions of the future where he sought to avert this dark future.

She grew disgusted at the direction Sub-Zero was taking the Lin Kuei. After seeing peace being made with Scorpion, the defiant Frost challenged her Grandmaster as unfit to lead. However, Sub-Zero defeated and banished Frost resulting in her abandoning his clan.

Frost secretly observed her grandmaster's attempts to make peace with the Shirai Ryu. Refusing peace, she attacked Scorpion, declaring that there will be no peace. Scorpion easily knocks her out, though her actions incite a fight between the two leaders, which ends after Frost attempts to attack Scorpion again, only to be frozen by Sub-Zero. Her former master informs Scorpion that she is powerful but lacks the judgment to see the wisdom of peace. He promises to deal with her and she is left frozen as they continue their conversation.

Frost came to become an ally of the Titan Kronika and submitted herself to cyberization which she believed made her into a superior warrior. Thus, she became part of Sektor's Cyber Lin Kuei and oversaw the factory that was transforming unwilling warriors into cyborg ninjas. The factory was infiltrated by Sub-Zero and Scorpion leading to the pair encountering Frost in her new form. Frost is first seen with Kronika, under a cloak, as the latter proposes to Shao Kahn that he assist her in her creation of the New Era in exchange for his own empire. Frost had also informed Sektor that the Lin Kuei and Shirai Ryu are now allied clans. Frost later appears in the Lin Kuei Factory with Cyrax as Sub-Zero and Scorpion plan to destroy it. Sub-Zero freezes Frost in order to buy them time to destroy Cyrax's behavior inhibitors, Frost quickly breaks free out of the ice and attacks the duo. Frost is quickly defeated by one of the duo as the other attempts to incapacitate Cyrax, she is not seen for the rest of the duration of the chapter. Frost later was later seen participating in the defense of Kronika's Keep, she mocks Raiden for ignoring her entire life and reveals that to him that the Cyber Lin Kuei are under her command. After being defeated by Raiden, the thunder god short-circuits her control over the Cyber Lin Kuei, causing the remaining cyborgs to deactivate.

Overview

Personality and attributes

In appearance, Frost was a female of Cryomancer heritage who possessed a human-like phenotype with a fair, pale skin tone. She was of average height for a human female and featured a lean, athletic build with defined musculature. Her most striking physical characteristic was her short, spiked hair, which consisted of literal shards of blue-white ice that radiated a cold mist. Her eyes were a bright, glowing icy blue, lacking visible pupils or irises. Initially, her costume consisted of a blue-and-black ninja-style uniform that adhered to the traditional aesthetic of the Lin Kuei clan. This outfit included a sleeveless blue tunic with black piping, worn over dark, form-fitting trousers and matching tabis. She wore a metallic blue mask that covered the lower half of her face, while her forearms were protected by silver bracers that complemented a set of circular, metallic ornaments located on her chest and belt.

Frost displayed a personality defined by an intense and volatile level of arrogance. She possessed an overwhelming drive for recognition and a deep-seated belief in her own superiority over her peers and mentors alike. This trait manifested as a constant defiance of authority, particularly toward Sub-Zero, as she viewed his guidance as a hindrance to her personal advancement rather than a source of wisdom. Her ambition was characterized by an impatient and ruthless streak; she was unwilling to earn her status through longevity or loyalty, preferring instead to seek shortcuts to power. This overconfidence frequently clouded her judgment, leading her to overestimate her mastery of cryomancy and dismiss the potential risks of her actions. She harboured a bitter resentment toward anyone she perceived as an obstacle to her dominance, which made her prone to betrayal and prevented her from forming genuine alliances or showing humility, even when faced with her own tactical failures.

It was noted that Frost was both headstrong and driven with her abilities only eclipsed by her overconfidence.

She came to resent her mentor Sub-Zero and believed he always doubted her as well as held her back. In one instance, she felt that his brother Bi-Han would have been a better Grandmaster than Sub-Zero. However, she came to change her views when she found out that Noob Saibot said that he would not had allowed women into the Lin Kuei ranks at which point she felt that he was worse than Sub-Zero.

Powers and abilities

Frost was a human being from Earthrealm where it was believed that she was descended from the long lost race of Cryomancers. As a Cryomancer, she had an innate ability to control ice and she was trained to better harness Kori powers. Her cryomancy abilities were said to be exceptionally advanced despite her young age. While certainly not on par with that of Sub-Zero, Frost's cryokinetic powers are extremely potent. Rather than relying on freezing the opponent directly, she freezes a large area of the ground in front of her, thereby increasing her range and improving her odds of connecting with an enemy. She can also slide into the opponent and knock them down, as well as execute an uppercut by teleporting away from the opponent and reappearing behind them. Finally, her freezing powers allow her to create two small daggers made of pure, concentrated ice that she uses in battle. Overall, while Frost may not be as powerful as her mentor, she makes up for it with her superior speed and strategic potential.

In the new timeline, she came to willingly submit herself to cybernization thus turning her into a cyborg.
