Ferrin Colos in Darkstars v1 #1.

Ferrin Colos

After shutting down a smuggling ring, he was informed by Regional Administrator Sleer Prigatz of a disturbance on the planet Earth involving a crime syndicate that were peddling in an addictive Loku drug that turned the natives violent. Thus, it was decided by N.E.M.O. to assign Colos to the task of policing the planet. (Darkstars v1 #1) With the help of two Earthmen, detective John Flint and Mo Douglas, Colos succeeded in stopping the drug ring and destroying their factory. Prigatz was so satisfied with his results that he officially assigned Colos to stay and patrol on Earth. (Darkstars v1 #2)

Ferrin Colos was stationed on Earth alongside fellow Darkstars John Flint and Mo Douglas when the team became involved in stopping a destructive gang war in Dallas. Acting as field leader, Ferrin coordinated the group’s response to escalating violence between rival factions, issuing tactical orders while personally engaging combatants to minimize bloodshed. He used the advanced capabilities of his Darkstar exo-mantle to disarm armed assailants, deflect projectile fire, and subdue multiple targets non-lethally. When a high-powered weapons cache was uncovered, he secured the area until local law enforcement could intervene, maintaining strict adherence to the Darkstars’ mandate of protecting innocents and preserving order. His conduct demonstrated both his strategic experience and his commitment to the interstellar peacekeeping role of the corps. (Darkstars v1 #3) Colos participated in the pursuit of the alien criminal Evil Star, whose Starlings had launched a series of assaults. Ferrin spearheaded the initial engagement, confronting the Starlings directly while using his exo-mantle’s flight and energy projection systems to break their formation and protect civilian bystanders. Coordinating closely with his fellow Darkstars, he issued orders for containment and diversion, ensuring that the enemy’s focus remained on him while his teammates worked to neutralize the threat. When Evil Star attempted to escape, Ferrin engaged in a high-speed aerial pursuit, pressing the fugitive with precision fire to limit collateral damage. His actions showcased his leadership under duress and his willingness to place himself in harm’s way to achieve the mission’s objectives. (Darkstars v1 #4)

Ferrin Colos responded to a mission call involving a confrontation with L.E.G.I.O.N. forces led by Vril Dox, arriving alongside his fellow Darkstars to mediate a jurisdictional conflict. Upon entering the contested zone, Colos attempted to establish communication and clarify the Darkstars’ claim to the operation, but tensions quickly escalated into a skirmish. During the fight, Colos engaged directly with L.E.G.I.O.N. operatives, using his exo-mantle’s energy blasts for both offense and crowd control. Despite the growing hostilities, he tried to avoid lethal force, focusing instead on disabling opponents and preventing unnecessary casualties. He maintained constant tactical communication with his fellow Darkstars, coordinating their formations to avoid being overrun. By the end of the encounter, although neither side fully stood down, Colos had succeeded in keeping the conflict from spiraling into a full-scale battle. (Darkstars v1 #5) Colos continued to operate in the disputed sector, actively patrolling alongside his team to secure the area against L.E.G.I.O.N. interference. When a sudden assault broke out between the two factions, he immediately moved to neutralize incoming attacks, intercepting energy fire and deploying his exo-mantle’s protective shielding to cover allied positions. Colos personally disabled multiple L.E.G.I.O.N. weapon systems with precision blasts, targeting non-lethal points to cripple their functionality. In the middle of the battle, he made another attempt to open dialogue with Vril Dox, signaling a willingness to negotiate, but the offer was ignored in the chaos. By the close of the confrontation, Colos’s leadership and quick reaction times allowed his unit to hold the line and maintain their operational claim in the region. (Darkstars v1 #6)

As per NEMO regulations, which allows Darkstars to pick two native deputies, Colos recruited Flint and Mo to join him on his patrol and gave them their own Exo-Mantles. During their next missions, Flint had trouble following the chain of command, rushing into battle despite Colos' orders to stand down and wait. Ferrin had to assert his authority in repeated occasions, which eventually led to Flint resigning from being a deputy. (Darkstars v1 #7) While conducting follow-up patrols on the newly secured planet, Ferrin Colos investigated a string of violent incidents that suggested a surviving insurgent faction. Leading a two-person recon detail, he tracked the activity to a concealed stronghold and initiated a swift breach operation. Using his exo-mantle’s enhanced sensors, Colos identified power sources and automated defenses, neutralizing them with precision shots before they could fire. Once inside, he engaged insurgent fighters in close-quarters combat, employing a combination of shield-assisted blocking and rapid strikes to subdue the group. After securing the site, Colos coordinated prisoner transport and evidence collection, ensuring the remaining insurgent presence was dismantled without reigniting open conflict. (Darkstars v1 #8)

A distress signal led Ferrin Colos and his deputies to a crisis on the planet Maltus, where they received orders from the Controllers to prevent anyone from attacking the Triarch. This orders meant opposing Green Lantern. However, Colos ignored them and decided to join forces with Hal Jordan to avenge his fallen comrades and save Maltus. Shortly after, even more Darkstars arrived on the planet to enforce the Controllers' orders, and Colos had to oppose his brothers. (Darkstars v1 #11) However, the Darkstars stopped fighting each other when they learned that the Triarch were not actually gods, but artificial being created by the rogue Controller Daalon. Thus, they decided to join forces with the Green Lantern Corps to avert the crisis. (Darkstars v1 #12)

Following the situation with Merayn Dethalis, Colos lied about not seeing the fugitive on Earth. However, Jeddigar learned the truth, and Colos faced court-martial. After a questionable trial, Jeddigar declared him guilty, and Colos was kicked out of the Darkstars. His replacement was announced right after the trial: the former Titan Donna Troy would become Earth's Darkstar. (Darkstars v1 #23)
