History
The Federal States of America (FSA) (アメリカ連邦国) was a nation that was born from the political and economic crises of the United States of America in the early part of the 21st century. The Federal States of America arose following the fall of the original U.S. government after the proliferation of bionics—cybernetic enhancements that blurred the lines between man and machine—ignited a political and ethical crisis. After the so-called Bionic War, where tensions between enhanced soldiers and non-augmented citizens escalated into open conflict, the original republic collapsed under internal pressure and terrorist threats. A new ruling body—highly centralized and security-driven—took control, enforcing draconian laws that saw the mass incarceration, exile, or execution of bionically augmented individuals. The infamous Purge of the Bionics became a turning point in this regime’s consolidation of power, marking an era of surveillance, suppression, and scapegoating. Despite their previous use of bionics in warfare, the Federal States outlawed such enhancements publicly, while secretly developing elite operatives, like Nathan "Rad" Spencer, to serve in covert missions. The nation functioned under a government that weaponized fear and technological disparity, projecting itself as the last bastion of humanity against the perceived threat of transhumanism, even as it continued to exploit the very tools it condemned.
The Federal States of America originated as a global superpower that functioned as the primary military and political adversary to the Imperial Army of the Badds during a period of worldwide conflict. In their earliest actions, the FSA deployed elite tactical units, specifically the TASC force (Tactical Arms and Security Council), to neutralize the threat posed by a resurrected military regime seeking to activate a superweapon known as Project Albatross. Their initial operations focused on the infiltration of heavily fortified enemy territories, including hazardous industrial zones, high-altitude mountain bases, and subterranean research facilities. The FSA military coordinated a high-stakes rescue mission to retrieve a captured operative, Super Joe, while simultaneously sabotaging the enemy's logistical networks and communications arrays. These actions involved the deployment of advanced bionic technology, which allowed their soldiers to navigate vertically complex environments and engage superior numbers through specialized grappling and swinging maneuvers. The government prioritized the prevention of a nuclear-scale disaster, authorizing the systematic destruction of the Imperial Army's heavy artillery and the ultimate demolition of the Albatross aircraft before it could be launched. Following the successful neutralization of the enemy command and the destruction of the bio-engineered threat at the heart of the facility, the FSA military units executed a strategic withdrawal from the combat zone.
This turbulent form of concept led to the FSA taking a hardline approach to politics by putting libertarian values aside in order to maintain law and order. While it was a young government, it has had an eventful history which was primarily due to the Imperial Incident which occurred a decade previously. This military faction sought to revive the fascism of the past by attacking several FSA cities. There were numerous rumors in those days which included the Imperials launching a massive floating air fortress as well as one that reported that they had found a way to revive the dead. The threat was eventually overcomed by the bionic commando Nathan Spencer.
After the end of that conflict, the issue of bionics became a controversial development. Many championed the technology after the success of it in defeating the Imperial threat and appealed for the release of it to the civilian use. However, many were fearful which potentially lead to ordinary humans becoming obsolete. The issue came to head when the President issued a directive which led to the deactivation of the controversial bionics program. This became known as the Bionic Purge and led to the Tactical Arms and Security Committee having its bionic program closed. Those operatives that had bionic augmentations were ordered to turn in their enhancements or have them forcibly removed. This tactic backfired and led to pro-bionic followers rioting as well as many of the TASCs bionic operatives fleeing rather then surrender their implants.
The FSA later suffered an attack on Ascension City from a group called BioReign.
Overview
In appearance, the Federal States of America was a restructured and militarized successor to the former United States, emerging in the aftermath of a devastating war and widespread civil unrest. Its cities bore the scars of conflict—crumbling skyscrapers, militarized checkpoints, and zones cordoned off by debris and ruined infrastructure. Towering government complexes, reinforced bunkers, and armored convoys dominated urban centers, evoking a nation gripped by perpetual emergency and rigid authoritarian control. Massive security walls, surveillance drones, and propaganda billboards echoed across cityscapes, reinforcing loyalty to the state and a fear of bionic terrorism. Uniformed personnel—government soldiers and bio-enhanced operatives—patrolled the streets in stark armor painted in deep reds, greys, and blacks, symbolizing a regime that valued order above freedom. The once-vibrant American visual identity had been replaced with a bleak and dystopian aesthetic, shaped by paranoia, war trauma, and technological repression.
The Federal States of America were a technologically advanced, democratic military power that functioned as a highly organized and centralized federal republic. The government was structured as a formal parliamentary or presidential system with a clear chain of command, operating through specialized branches such as the Tactical Arms and Security Council (TASC). This administration functioned with extreme formality, maintaining rigorous military protocols, standardized uniforms, and a clear hierarchy that governed the deployment of its elite operatives. The faction's goals and objectives focused on the preservation of global peace and the containment of totalitarian expansionism, specifically targeting the resurgence of imperialistic regimes. They sought to neutralize high-level technological threats and prevent the activation of mass-destruction weaponry through strategic infiltration and surgical military strikes. Their primary objective was the rescue of key intelligence assets and the total dismantling of the Project Albatross initiative, which threatened to destabilize international security. To achieve this, they invested heavily in the development of bionic engineering and specialized infantry training, aiming to maintain a tactical advantage in diverse and hazardous combat environments. Success was measured by the successful extraction of personnel and the demolition of enemy superweapons, with the ultimate aim of upholding democratic values and ensuring the safety of the civilian populace from global tyranny.
The Federal States of America demonstrated a specialized suite of basic skills and abilities centered on the mastery of bionic augmentation and the execution of high-risk infiltration missions. They possessed the technical proficiency to engineer and deploy bionic grappling arms, which allowed their elite operatives to navigate vertically complex environments by latching onto structural elements and swinging across vast gaps. This specialized mobility was supplemented by the ability to utilize a diverse arsenal of standard and heavy weaponry, including rapid-fire assault rifles and high-explosive rocket launchers, with extreme precision. The FSA military also exhibited advanced skills in demolition and structural sabotage, effectively placing and detonating charges to dismantle fortified enemy communications arrays and heavy artillery placements. Furthermore, their operatives showed proficiency in radio communications and field intelligence, enabling them to intercept enemy transmissions and coordinate with remote command centers to secure tactical updates. Their physical abilities were enhanced by cybernetic integration, granting them the strength to haul themselves up onto high platforms and maintain stability while firing in mid-air. These collective skills in bionic movement, tactical combat, and industrial sabotage allowed the FSA to neutralize superior numbers and destroy the heavily guarded Project Albatross facility from within.
