History
Element 115 was an alien transuranic substance that was known to exist in the universe and employed as a power source by an extraterrestrial species.
In 1947, the United States government encountered a crash flying saucer in Roswell with the incident being kept a secret. The remains were salvaged from the cash site and subsequently housed in a secret government base nicknamed Never Never Land in the Nevada desert. From there, the US government reverse-engineered the alien technology to create a time machine, and the Element 115 fuel source allowed the bending of space-time to create a time distortion field. The resultant creation was the Chronosphere which would use the element to disappear in a bright flash, slingshot into a wormhole in space, and crash-land seven days in the past, the limit of the amount of time the limited fuel source could bend time before needing to recharge. A a national security crisis that necessitated the use of the Chronosphere, during which its power source, Element 115, was the key to allowing Frank Parker to travel back in time to prevent a catastrophic event. (Episode: Pilot)
Overview
Element-115 was salvaged from the Roswell crash and was a trasuranic element that allowed for the generation of a time distortion field around the Chronosphere which was part of Project Backstep. This was the key in the process that allowed a ship to be displaced through time and space.
Serving as a fuel source, the compound generated the gravity way which was pumped through a waveguide conduit connected to the reactor of the Chronosphere. However, only a limited amount of Element 115 was recovered which is used only sparingly.
