Biography

Marcos Diaz was a male Mutant who was born in the modern age as the son of Sebastian Diaz. As the oldest of his siblings, he was groomed by his father to take over the family business. But; when he was thirteen, his powers manifested for the first time and his father gave him the same choice he had given his mother; hide his powers or leave. Marcos refused to hide his powers and he was kicked out. He then went to live on the streets of Bogota, and eventually wound up doing things he was not proud of to survive. Marcos found employment with a cartel, helping to run drugs across the border. He became involved; with his employer's daughter, Carmen Guerra. Sometime during his time; with the cartel, he visited his father while he was dying of cancer. He soon began to be treated as a valued member of the family, but that; changed; when he met Polaris. He fell in love; with her and decided to leave the Cartel and join the Mutant Underground, utilizing all his foreign contacts into smuggling mutants; instead of drugs. On October 12, 2014, Eclipse was arrested; by the San Antonio Police Department. Marcos’s life changed when he met Lorna Dane, known as Polaris, a fellow mutant and the magnetic daughter of Magneto. The two shared a deep romantic bond rooted in mutual understanding and shared ideals, eventually becoming one of the Mutant Underground’s most dedicated pairs. Together, they worked to protect mutants hunted by the government’s Sentinel Services, helping smuggle fugitives across state lines to safe houses.

Overview

Personality and attributes

In appearance, Marcos Diaz was a lean, dark-haired man of Hispanic descent, often seen wearing casual but durable clothing suited to the Underground’s covert lifestyle. His defining visual feature was the glow of golden light that emanated from his hands when using his powers.

Although he can be somewhat short-tempered, impatient, and distrusting of strangers, Eclipse is fiercely loyal to his friends and those he cares about, willing to do almost anything to ensure their safety. He deeply regrets the things he did in his youth to survive and now seeks to help mutants escape persecution.

Powers and abilities

Marcos Diaz was a mutant whose physiology had evolved beyond that of an ordinary human, granting him photokinetic abilities — the power to absorb, generate, and manipulate light energy. He could emit blinding flashes, form concentrated beams capable of burning through metal, or channel light into radiant plasma that could be used offensively or defensively. His powers were strongest when exposed to natural sunlight, allowing him to recharge and emit energy bursts of staggering intensity. In combat, he used his abilities with surgical precision, often creating controlled explosions or energy barriers to shield allies. Despite his formidable capabilities, extended use of his powers caused exhaustion and physical pain, and emotional turmoil sometimes made his energy unstable. His photokinesis, both a weapon and a symbol of hope, reflected the light he struggled to bring into a world consumed by fear and darkness.
