The Dragon Aspects are a group that feature in Warcraft.

History

The Dragon Aspects was the collective name given to the leaders of the dragonflights of Azeroth. Originally, a proto-dragon named Galakrond was formed that was considered the progenitor and father of dragonkind. Some rumours claimed that from him the Titans created the Great Aspects. While the titan-forged Keeper Odyn viewed the proto-dragons as mere beasts, the noble Keeper Tyr recognized their exceptional courage and wisdom during the desperate battle to slay Galakrond in the Dragonblight. After the leviathan choked to death on a boulder lodged in its throat by Malygos and Neltharion, Tyr petitioned the Pantheon to elevate these five champions to serve as the world's permanent protectors. In a rare celestial conjunction known as the Embrace, the Titans channeled their cosmic power through the Keepers to transform the five into the Aspects. Aman'Thul bestowed dominion over time to Nozdormu, while Eonar blessed the sisters Alexstrasza and Ysera with power over life and the growing wilds of the Emerald Dream. Norgannon granted Malygos mastery over magic, and Khaz'goroth charged Neltharion with the safety of the earth's deep places. Following their transformation, they founded the five dragonflights and established their seats of power across Ancient Kalimdor, ruling with a wisdom that defined the Age of Dragons until the tragic schism with the Primal Incarnates and the eventual betrayal by Neltharion.

Overview

In appearance, the Dragon Aspects were awe-inspiring behemoths that transcended the savage forms of their proto-dragon ancestors, manifesting as majestic, scaled leviathans of immense physical stature and magical presence. Each was distinguished by a vibrant, monochromatic coloration that signified their specific domain, ranging from deep crimson and verdant green to shimmering bronze, icy blue, and obsidian black. Their bodies were characterized by massive, bat-like wings capable of generating gale-force winds, elongated necks topped with noble, crested heads, and eyes that glowed with the raw, cosmic energy of the Titans. Beyond their draconic forms, they possessed the unique ability to adopt mortal guises, often appearing as elegant members of the younger races—such as elves or humans—to better interact with the inhabitants of Azeroth. In every form, they exuded a palpable aura of ancient authority and divine purpose, their very existence serving as a living conduit for the fundamental forces of time, life, magic, and nature that they were sworn to uphold.
