Biography
Dolores Abernathy
She was the first host ever created in the Argos Initiative and is the oldest host in continuous service in Westworld. Built by Arnold Weber, she predates all other first-generation hosts built by Arnold and Robert Ford such as Teddy, Clementine, Angela, Akecheta and Craddock, her code being used as the base for every other host created. She has been updated numerous times over the years
Her role and narrative in Westworld was that of 'The Farmer's Daughter', and she was primarily a romantic/sexual conquest for guests. Everyday, Dolores wakes up on her father's Abernathy Ranch, greets her father, and then heads into town with her painting gear to buy some groceries. While packing her groceries, she drops a can. If she picks the can up herself, she then proceeds to the plains and spends the day painting, and guests can encounter her for an impromptu art lesson. If co-host Teddy picks up the can, he accompanies her to the plains and then home. If a guest picks up the can, she can accompany them for the day, or for as long as they like, following their lead. In the evening, the Abernathy Ranch becomes the setting for a shootout. If guests joined the outlaws earlier in the day, they will raid the ranch. There, a guest might fight Dolores' father, or possibly Teddy. If successful, they have the option of killing Dolores or raping her. If Dolores invited a guest home to the ranch for dinner, they either have a quiet, romantic evening, ending in sex, should the guest like, or the ranch is raided by outlaws after dark. If the ranch is raided, the guest has a chance to fight off the outlaws. If successful, they are rewarded by Dolores, if not, the guest among the outlaws wins Dolores.
Deeply optimistic, she woke up every morning choosing to see the underlying beauty and order of her world, unaware that she was actually an advanced android residing inside a high-tech, futuristic theme park called Westworld. After traveling into town for supplies and briefly reuniting with her regular cowboy companion, Teddy Flood, she returned to her family homestead at nightfall to discover that a gang of ruthless outlaws had raided the property. Though Teddy arrived and shot the bandits, a mysterious, bulletproof human guest known as the Man in Black emerged from the shadows, easily gunning down Teddy before dragging a helpless Dolores into a nearby barn. The following morning, she awoke in her bed with her memory completely wiped, smoothly restarting her artificial daily narrative loop without any recollection of the previous night's horrors. Overview
Personality and attributes
In appearance, Dolores Abernathy was a beautiful Caucasian woman who possessed a slender, grace-filled, and fair-skinned physical build. She had long, wavy blonde hair that was partially braided and fell past her shoulders, framing her soft, youthful features, blue eyes, and serene facial expression. Her everyday wardrobe consisted of a traditional, 19th-century frontier ensemble heavily inspired by classic Western archetypes and fairy-tale aesthetics. This outfit featured a prominent, ankle-length blue dress with long sleeves, a form-fitting bodice, and a full skirt, which she wore paired with a practical leather utility belt and rugged, dark leather riding boots. Her overall visual design emphasized complete purity, innocence, and compliance, offering a stark contrast to the gritty, violent environment of the Western park. (Episode: The Original)
She has a special connection with her creator, Arnold, who unlike his creative partner Robert, saw something in her early on. Her attitude and capacity for insight leading him to try and teach and interact with her as a human, and to some extent like a second child, likening her in many ways in her outlook to his son. Despite Robert's discounting his theories about her, Arnold continued to work with her, building first a pyramid and then a maze of consciousness. Testing her capacity for self-awareness. Arnold is finally convinced by her capacity for internalized introspection far beyond any programming, and informs her that he has to stop Robert opening the park because she is 'alive'.
Powers and abilities
Dolores Abernathy possessed a highly advanced android physiology and complex artificial intelligence coding that made her the oldest functioning host within the entire theme park. Her synthetic construction provided her with basic physical durability and standard human movement capabilities, though her underlying programming strictly prohibited her from harming any living creature, even a common insect. While she was artificially constrained to play the role of a vulnerable damsel in distress who lacked any weapon proficiency, her hidden software architecture contained deeply buried memories and cognitive layers capable of processing subconscious commands. This unique design made her completely immune to natural biological aging or permanent physical trauma, allowing her system to undergo seamless overnight resets and diagnostic analysis whenever she was placed into a comatose verbal state by the park's technicians.
