History
The DigiDestined (Japanese: 選ばれし子供, Hepburn: Erabareshi Kodomo?, lit. "Chosen Child") were the children selected for saving the Digital World and the "real world." They had digivices and crests.
Eight members of the first DigiDestined group witnessed the battle between a Red Greymon and Parrotmon at their childhood town of Highton View Terrace prior to moving to Odaiba. They were also witnessed by a group of figures who created the DigiDestined Digimon as part of a project to control the balance between good and evil in the Digital World, each Digimon linked to a Digivice and Crest which are connected to the strongest trait of their respective child. However, when the facility came under attack, Gennai managed to get only seven of the Digi-Eggs to File Island while the eighth Digi-Egg, which eventually became Gatomon, as left behind on the Server continent along with the seven of the Crest stones.
During the summer of 1999, seven children—Taichi "Tai" Kamiya, Yamato "Matt" Ishida, Sora Takenouchi, Koushiro "Izzy" Izumi, Mimi Tachikawa, Joe Kido, and Takeru "T.K." Takaishi—were attending a summer camp in the mountains of Japan when an unexpected phenomenon changed their lives forever. As they enjoyed the peaceful retreat, strange weather patterns emerged: snow began to fall inexplicably, disrupting the warm summer day. Suddenly, beams of light erupted from the sky, enveloping each of them and transporting them to an unknown place that was called File Island. They awoke in the Digital World that was a strange, vibrant, and often perilous realm filled with creatures known as Digimon. Each child encountered a unique partner Digimon waiting for them: Tai met Agumon, Matt met Gabumon, Sora was paired with Biyomon, Izzy with Tentomon, Mimi with Palmon, Joe with Gomamon, and T.K. with Patamon. Though bewildered by their new surroundings and their sudden separation from the real world, the children soon discovered that they had been chosen as the “Digidestined,” destined to protect both the Digital and real worlds from a rising darkness. Their journey had begun not by chance, but through a cosmic alignment of purpose—drawn into a conflict much greater than they initially understood.
As the Digidestined began navigating the Digital World, they were quickly faced with danger. Their first major challenge came in the form of hostile Digimon corrupted by an evil influence. One of the earliest threats they faced together was Kuwagamon, a massive insect-like Digimon who launched a vicious assault on the group shortly after they arrived. The children, with no training or understanding of their environment, were forced to rely on their new Digimon partners, who, in a surge of instinct and protective will, Digivolved into stronger forms to fend off the attacker. The battle was chaotic and destructive—culminating in the group being separated across different regions of the Digital World. Over the following days, each Digidestined faced their own trials: overcoming natural hazards, mistrust, and the Digital World's twisted terrain. Yet, they reunited and began to harness the bond with their partners, slowly understanding that their emotions—particularly traits like courage, friendship, love, and sincerity—could trigger their Digimons' evolution. These early battles against enemies like Shellmon and Seadramon not only solidified their trust in one another but also taught them that survival in the Digital World.
While they searched for a way home, the DigiDestined eventually learn of their significance in saving the Digital World as they are led to Server to obtain the Crests to enable their Digimon to assume their ultimate level forms. But when the DigiDestined encounter Myotismon, learning time in the Digital World is faster than the human world, it caused a series of events that briefly allow the seven children to return to Tokyo where they are joined by their eighth member, Tai's sister Kari, and Gatomon once she remembers who she is. The event allow enable Tai and Matt is enable their partners to assume Mega form, making them effective against the Dark Masters and then Apocalymon after they practically destroyed the previous Digital World. Though Apocalymon's defeat allowed the Digital World to return to its original state, causing its time to run in sync with real world time, the DigiDestined end up returning to their world. However a series of events, such as an attack on cyberspace by Diaboromon that had WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon combine into Omnimon, allowed the DigiDestined to reunite with their partners again.

Overview
In appearance, the DigiDestined were a group of Tamers (テイマー Teimā?) that possessed a Digivice and had a Digimon with these being chosen children that were tasked with saving the Digital World.
DigiDestined are children selected by benevolent beings to protect the Digital World and sometimes Earth from evil forces. The Digital World is a plane on which Digimon, anthropomorphic creatures that originated from data produced by Earth's communication networks, live. The Digital World is volatile and is vulnerable to attack, and the Digimon that live there often find that they cannot defend their world on their own. Therefore, human children are recruited to defeat their enemies.
