Biography

Origins

Ryand'r was a male inhabitant of the planet Tamaran where he was born to the royal family as the son of King Myand'r and Queen Luand'r where he was the younger brother of Blackfire and Starfire. (Tales of the New Teen Titans v1 #4)

Darkfire participated in a joint Omega Men assault against the Citadel’s military forces on Euphorix. When the team breached the outer defenses, he unleashed controlled bursts of his bio-energetic flames to incinerate weapon emplacements, ensuring the others could advance. During the fighting, Darkfire used his powers to create a barrier of heat and fire to protect his teammates from an incoming wave of Citadel soldiers, forcing the attackers to retreat. When the group’s infiltration reached the Citadel command center, Darkfire stood guard at the main entryway, fending off reinforcements while Primus and Kalista completed their objective. His role was as much defensive as offensive—maintaining a perimeter with blasts of searing plasma and preventing the enemy from regaining control of the stronghold. (Omega Men v1 #2) He joined the Omega Men in their continued campaign against Citadel strongholds across the Vega system. On the jungle world of Changralyn, he was deployed alongside Tigorr and Doc in a forward strike unit tasked with destroying a communications relay. Using his flame powers to burn through dense underbrush, Darkfire carved a direct path for the team to reach the Citadel installation undetected. Once combat began, he targeted the relay’s power generators, melting structural supports until the entire communications hub collapsed. In the withdrawal phase, he covered the team’s retreat by creating a wall of fire, delaying pursuing Citadel forces long enough for their ship to take off safely. His ability to combine offensive power with tactical control made him a key component of the mission’s success. (Omega Men v1 #3)

Post-Flashpoint

Following the Flashpoint, a new version of reality was created with a different history of events.

Overview

Personality and attributes

In appearance, Darkfire was a male humanoid of Tamaranean heritage, with a lean, muscular build adapted to the demands of constant combat. His skin was deep reddish-brown, contrasting sharply with his short, dark hair and piercing eyes. He typically wore a black-and-red bodysuit with a sleeveless upper section, exposing his arms and allowing for maximum flexibility in combat. The suit incorporated reinforced segments across the torso and legs, designed to endure both physical strikes and the intense heat generated by his own abilities. Flame-like motifs were present in the design, symbolizing his destructive powers. (Omega Men v1 #2)

Personality-wise, Darkfire was brave, fiercely loyal to his comrades, and utterly committed to the war against the Citadel, though his aggressive nature sometimes put him at odds with more measured teammates. He showed a preference for direct confrontation and was quick to volunteer for frontline assignments. His sense of duty extended beyond personal safety, often placing himself in high-risk positions to shield others. (Omega Men v1 #2)

His father was King Myand'r who was the ruler of Tamaran and his wife the Queen Luand'r. He had two sisters with his eldest sibling being Komand'r and his other older sister was Koriand'r. (Tales of the New Teen Titans v1 #4)

Powers and abilities

Darkfire was of Tamaranean physiology, granting him the natural durability, agility, and combat readiness common to his warrior race. On top of this baseline, he possessed the innate ability to generate and project intense plasma-like flames from his body. These flames could be used offensively to burn or destroy targets, or defensively to create barriers of heat. His control over the intensity and spread of the fire suggested both biological adaptation and years of disciplined combat training. (Omega Men v1 #2)
