Biography
Daniel Captio
At some point, he came to be contacted on the telephone by Bruce Wayne. The young man had been wandering the world learning various self-improvement techniques. From Dr. Captio, he looked to perfect his mind and sharpen it as a weapon with him wanting to master his emotions. They stayed at Daniel's remote mansion where he pushed Wayne to places he had never been before. In less than two weeks ago, he helped Bruce convince his brain that he was not feeling pain upon any form of injury. However, Daniel came to believe that Bruce was holding himself back. He had wanted to turn Wayne into a sociopath and embrace the teachings but Bruce rejected them. Captio then revealed that there was another who was unburdened by morality and was walking the same path as Wayne. He then showcased pictures of a murdered Alfred Pennyworth and a friend named Dana. At first, Bruce believed that Captio was responsible for the act but Daniel professed that this was not his way. Wayne then looked to rush back to Gotham but found a wounded 'Anton' who had been pursued by an assassin named Harris Zuma. Operating under the name of the Still, he had been hunting both Anton and Wayne where he now looked to murder them. Ultimately, it was revealed that Alfred and Dana were not dead with the pictures having been manipulated by Daniel. This was because he wanted to trigger the trauma in Wayne in the belief he could mould his mind into being a perfect killer. Captio was then confronted by Bruce who came to knock out the man to be arrested by the authorities for his crimes. (Batman: The Knight v1 #8)
Arriving in Gotham City, Captio came to take an interest in the man who was formerly known as the Red Hood. The person following an accident at the Ace Chemicals plant had been transformed into the Joker. In those initial months, the Joker struggled with his new identity and whilst following him over weeks Daniel came to approach him. He then offered to help the Joker conquer his fears and truly become a creature of chaos. The Joker would ask Daniel why he felt he was qualified for such a role to which Captio commented that he was the smartest man in the world as well as the person who trained Batman. (Batman v3 #142)
